My Primary Leadership Styles Are Authoritarian And Democratic Essay

My primary leadership styles are authoritarian and democratic. I had the same score for both type of leadership. These types leadership styles are considered to be moderate range. My least dominant style was laissez faire leadership which is also fits in the moderate range but was the lower score for the range. I don’t argue with some of the results of this questionnaire. I do not perceive myself to be authoritarian leader but rather a democratic leadership. It was difficult to understand why I receive same score for both leadership style. On the other hand, I agree that Laissez-faire leadership is the least dominance. If I were to classify my leadership style, democratic leadership would be the most dominant. authoritarian leadership would follow democratic style; I am less likely to be laissez faire leader.

One of the positive aspect of Authoritarian includes tendency of clear instruction provision. Another positive factor is the ability to make fast decisions. the negative effects of this type of leadership is the fact that it does not inquire employees’ opinions or recommends. Employees imputes can be make a difference and is important in helping a company grow. Authoritarian leaders come off as unapproachable therefore employees may not want work for an authoritative leader over a long period of time. The other primary leadership study I as assigned was democratic leadership. In this leadership style there is more interaction between the employers and employees. This type of leader will reach out to their employees and ask for their opinion on issues regarding their work. “A good leader can concentrate on the task and on the employee at the same time and this can be identified in the democratic style” (Derecskei). It is easier to attain a goal when your team members are willing to help you achieve to those goal. In addition to this, rewarding employees by paying them or even offering a break is very motivating. It is difficult to work on an empty stomach so lunch breaks are important. Moreover, people may not put in the same energy as they would when they are full. Salary is an essential reward; most people will not work without getting some sort of reward. I will love at the company review before applying to check what type of work environment a company has. When I get hired in a company I will try to collaborative and encourage my colleagues as much as I can. One way this information will help me by guiding me on which type of job to look for.
