I am interested in both the Tepper School of Business and the Mellon College of Science. I chose these two schools because I would like to major in either finance or mathematics. Also, I would like to minor in mathematics if I was accepted into the Tepper School of Business.
My first choice is the Tepper School of Business because the study of finance seems exciting. I am very interested in familiarizing myself with all the different aspects of the financial world. I would like to understand how other countries deal with matters financially. Thus, I am eager to study abroad so I could be able to relate the financial aspects of other countries to our own. Everyday should be a continuous journey to get to your goal. Starting off with the right step is a major component. Therefore, I chose to apply to Stanly Early College High. I believe that I have the ability to work up to Stanly Early College standards. Determination, dedication, and desire are all qualities that I have.
You go three years of high school preparing for college and at the same time having fun. Until you are in your senior year of high school that’s when you realize and start asking your self what college do I want to go to? Or what college career I want to pursue? That’s when you notice you have but so little time to answer these questions. Me I’m in my last year of high school and I though I already knew what career I wanted to pursue, but its now that I notice that not even I know what I’m going to do with my life? All I’m sure of its that I’m going to graduate out of high school with a diploma and that I’m going to college. But what happens after that? What major did I study? Or where did I go to accomplish my goal?
My thoughts on this career have definitely changed after doing research into this career. I only kind of wanted to do this job but, when I was done doing the research I really wanted to go into this career field it is bizarre or fantastic. Now that I have information from researching, I am going to be putting guidelines together for success. The next steps are for me to start taking classes in high school that will go with this career. Then, after high school, I will go straight into college to study for my major in finance, but, for now, I am embryonic or undeveloped.
I have an excellent job with tremendous advancement opportunities. At my well-paid job at a prestigious investment bank on Wall Street, my computer science and analytical skills are recognized and lauded. Moreover, I enjoy intellectual interactions with my Ph.D. colleagues, have many friends, and am appreciated by my managers. Still, I feel a void in my life. While my friends and colleagues do not understand my decision to leave my rewarding career, I know that I have no choice if I am to pursue my long-term goal and my childhood dream: to teach and publish research. While my friends think I am sacrificing certain career advancement for unnecessary training, I do not act impulsively, and I am certain that I have made the correct decision. What they do not understand is that I will derive even greater satisfaction by pursuing a doctoral degree than by earning a higher salary and advancing in my present career. By pursuing a doctorate, I will have the priceless opportunity to realize my dream.

Finance is a field that had always fascinated me right from my undergraduate college days. What make me interested in this particular field of study are the art of finance and the complexity of investment market which would allow me to employ my personal skills, such as analytical and communication skills, along with my personal characteristics such as dedication and compassion for what I do. As one of the most important sector in the world, I believe it would provide me with a broad range of career options.
What will I do for the rest of my life? Every person asks this question at some stage of their life, usually during their later teenage years. As a high school junior, I am now asking myself this question. After considerable thought, I have devised a tentative plan for my future. I realize that some of these plans and goals may change over time, but with a plan, the first steps of the journey can begin. To prepare me for the journey, I have taken very challenging high school curriculum, such as Honors and Advanced Placement courses. These classes will not only assist in my admission to college, but have also helped me to develop strong study skills and time management.
7. I am applying for a bachelor degree related to finance or business at UBC, because I have always been fascinated by economics and particular how it functions within our society. I guess perhaps it has something to do with my parents, since they both worked in finance. With their encouragement and guidance, I find myself enjoy accounting, marketing and math more than any other courses. People who decided to go to a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly about their major. Modules I am taking include Economics For Business, Financial Reporting, Management accounting and polio analysis. It includes other modules relating to marketing, finance, and management which expands my knowledge beyond accounting and finance and allow me the opportunity to look at financial market from multiple perspectives. One of my favorite subjects is Economics for Business and I got 70% in overall. I am also attracted by the charm of programming and able to solve some mathematical problems according to programming. During the study of financial modelling, I tried to find an easier way to calculate some investment models and pictured some K line graph by programming. I also got high marks in coursework of financial modeling (82) and corporate finance (90). To be excellent in investing in the stock market, real estates and other fields, I aspire to carry on my graduate study in the field of accounting and finance to make rational investment decisions. The Quantitative management and portfolio analysis enhance my comprehension of accounting principles and the investment strategies.
