Starting over our life in America from zero has been a big challenge for my family, but in return, the academic opportunities that I fortunately received in the past four years with success are definitely rewarding and well worth it. From a non-English speaker to a fourth-year student majoring in Biochemistry at University of California, Los Angeles, a prestigious institution, I have found the goals of my life. To continue on to the next chapter of my education, I am well-prepared and determined to work and study with a strong commitment to Pharmacy. As a biochemistry major student, not only did I master the general pre-pharmacy courses, but I also possess advanced knowledge and strong analytical skills in biochemistry labs. Additionally, I have trained myself to work efficiently with heavy workload under pressure during my studies at UCLA. Time-management and perseverance are the skills I acquired that will help me advance further in higher education. From my perspective, Pharmacy is not all about science. It also requires great communication skills and teamwork. Having worked at both private pharmacy and outpatient pharmacy at the hospital, I learned to adapt to a fast-paced working environment and had a chance to shadow registered pharmacists there to have a deeper understanding of the profession. I strongly value the time that I spent volunteering at the health club. It was an eye-opening experience for me learning about those who could not receive sufficient health care due to their background and financial circumstances, urging me to make a difference for them.
