“A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on cold iron.” -Horace Mann I feel education is a human right for all and should be tailored to fit each child’s need. All students should be given equal opportunities and a nurturing, intellectual atmosphere. Education is the single greatest factor for the future of the student and of the fate of our nation. I will make it my mission as a teacher to support the growth of each of my students. To effectively stimulate this growth, I feel it is important to have prepared environments, free public education, student centered classrooms, 21st century skills, and hands-on activities. First, a prepared, intellectual environment is a priority in my teaching pedagogy. The idea of a prepared environment was first gathered from Maria Montessori. She cultivated the concept of a classroom that was designed to support learning and exploration in students. When I design my future classroom, I want to enrich the students in all things science. I intend on having instruments for experiments, interesting reading materials about science concepts, and articles disclaiming the newest scientific research. My future classroom will boast the ideas of prepared environments, free public education, student-centered learning, 21st Century Skills, and hands-on activities. I feel it is my duty to brighten the life of each of my students. I will give them the key to success, but they must be able to use the door. I want to inspire my students and be strong in my teaching methods. I feel if the student is the leader in his own education, he can better his future.
