This project is basically for knowing more of myself. The purpose of undertaking this project in the course of Leadership in an Organization is to understand my personality type as per Myer Briggs test indicator, which will in a way help me to become a better leader in future. I undertook the MBTI test online and got resulted as ENTJ (Extroversion, Intuition, Thinking, and Judgement). The exact opposite to my personality type will be ISFP (Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Perception/Judgement). Now let’s understand both these personalities and how the people having the opposite personality can affect me. ENTJ – Well, people with such personality are leader and aggressive for their ideas, impatient by nature and has strong desires and …show more content…
Learning to delegate – I can say from my past experience that this is what I strongly needed. I always believed in myself and less to rely on people and delegate responsibilities to them. Though I did, I feel less confident on them to have done the work the way I wanted. I think the next characteristic will help me over it since it is about trusting the team members and then I can openly delegate. 2. Building and maintaining relationships – I have always been a destructive personality and people get upset with me when they talk to me since I am very much outspoken and cannot control the facts I speak which might be hurtful for others. I am more of controlling nature and others might not like to be in control and may need to have their own space. I need to build and maintain relationships by adding value to it and also respecting others emotions and building trust in them. 3. Tolerating ambiguity – I would like to work on this ability of mine, I am not having too much patience to stay in the same place and is always seeking to have answers as quickly as I got the question. But, I feel that there is a need for me to having this quality to be a good …show more content…
I noticed that most of the time the team members just do what is told to them, when coming to discussion they don’t have anything to say but mostly to have agreed to others opinion, they hardly think on the solution or any new problem which may arise with changes or with uncertainty, etc. There were slow learners and also non-performers in the team which affected the whole team goal, it created a burden for others. I was focused on motivating the team, having each member participate in activities and discussion and have their own separate input and mostly should be different from others. I was trying to get rid of the people incapable of taking things and non-performers. Also, I always focused on committed and dedicated people at work having discipline and work ethics, most of the time I faced issues with tardiness and lazy people and I cannot handle them so I used to get away with them by replacing them. I kept on building trust among the rest of the team by creating pairs and attaching the incentives to their performance which in a way helped them to depend on each other. I kept on checking their performance and give immediate feedback on their progress and how they are doing in order to achieve the goal. I most of the time focused on the areas of their improvements and having some senior help the new comers in the team to overcome their weak areas. Also, I like giving credit to people for their performance and personal inputs. I
Prompt #4 Response: Successful team performance first includes a clear sense of self. It is easier to work with a team when you know yourself first and then get to know the others on the team. A defined strategy and a clear vision of success are key in working with a team. Threats to a team are indecisiveness, not understanding your team members. Psychological factors include internal functioning and expectations in team performance.
Everybody's personality is different. Some may be extraversion's or narcissists, low self-monitoring or high self-monitoring and the list goes on. During this semester, taking Personality Theories has thought me more about myself than I have learned in my whole life. I believe that my personality stems from my family environment, my friends and society and then I get to choose what I think to be morally correct and what fits with my personality the best.
In terms of my personality result, INFJ, I agree with many of the traits that are unique to this personality type. Comments such as being an introverted extrovert made me realize how dead on my Myers-Briggs personality result was. I have always been an introvert my entire life and have cared for the feelings of others. Seeing how certain traits seemed to shine through in my Myers-Briggs personality description added a great deal of credibility to the test. I have always been called a perfectionist and overachiever, but never knew how those traits correlated to me being exhausted in certain situations. My personality result was able to show how my drive to improve was also a reason why I am constantly frustrated in times of difficulty. My personality result will be a major tool in achieving success in
An emerging trend among today’s employers is the increased focus on the personality traits of their employees. Whether that focus is on the ability to hire the right person by predicting job performance, or discovering the right “fit” for an employee in a team, a company’s success may depend on these factors. Creating the right team based for the best success of the team is crucial. However, due to project constraints, abilities, market place, etc, the ability to pair the right individuals may not be available.
Upon taking the Myers Briggs personality test on the human metrics website I was not surprised that I received the conclusion of an ENTJ or “the natural born leader”. The role of an ENTJ is that you conduct yourself in a manner that is very logical and rational (“Personality”). The Myers Briggs Type Indicator test has been around for over 65 years and has continually evolved to become more accurate in identifying personality traits. I find that the ENTJ type of personality reflections are accurate due to the fact that I am a no nonsense type of leader that likes to take charge and get the job done. In order to become a better leader for your organization you can take the time to educate yourself on the other 15 types of personality traits. This will help a leader in better understanding the views of their coworkers and will give them the tools of deal...
Two strengths I learned during my Self Awareness assessment were being a good listener and showing loyalty. I really try to be a good listener in all situations. I like to hear the whole story or complete process in whatever it may be. I am cautious about making decisions without having all the details. I don't mind taking the time out to get the details. Yes, it may take some time up front and may not lead to a quick decision but in the long run it prevents mistakes and errors as well as misjudging which can lead to more heartache and pain down the road. Loyalty is also very important to me in the work center. Knowing that you are devoted and committed to the success of the organization will motivate your people to do the same. They also need to know that they can come to you with a problem whether it is personal or work related. This will allow them to be more open to bringing problems to your attention that could later have a disastrous effect on the organization in the future. Both pers...
Personality involves a blend of characteristics that make one unique. Good people skills are very important in a group setting because of all the di...
One of the assessments revealed that I am too task oriented and I tend to focus less on the concerns of people. I can enhance my leadership skills by gaining a balance with people and my tasks. Overall I have strong charismatic leader behaviors which accounts for building trust with my employees. Being trustworthy is a core value of being a successful leader and team player.
what personality type that I have is very important to be successful in life, whether it be for
Our personalities are what distinguish us from each other beyond our appearance; without them, we would all behave and react in the same way. Personality is the reason we are outgoing or introverted, persistent or blaze, and anxious or calm. We each have different levels of these competing characteristics that make us unique. But why are personalities so varied? Personality is determined by an array of factors from genetic and biological to the personal experiences and decisions we have faced from the day we are born. The complexity of our personalities cannot be simply explained, and for this reason there exists many different theories of how it’s developed and personality is still deeply under study. I went into this subject with an open-mind
The skill that I am the best at or at least would give myself the highest score in would be showing empathy. I am not sure why I am skilled in this it just seems to come naturally to me. I have always found myself to be a very empathetic person who is able to understand the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and, attitudes of others almost as well as my own. One way that I have shown empathy is by being open to learning about the experiences of others including other cultures, races and religions. Learning about struggles of others and the impact their struggles have on the world as a whole has increased my ability to show empathy. I think that my empathetic nature has both helped me and hurt me in my life. It has helped me as a counselor, as
To have a rewarding career it is important for me to understand how my personality affects my behavior at my job. It will also allow me to see on these traits affect my behavior at work.
Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo-Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting
