My Personal Philosophy of Success Many would consider college as a simple stepping stone into our successful careers, however others see it as the most difficult part of their lives. Various individuals, especially students tend to believe that college is the hardest time of their lives, because it is the part of life where they learn to grow up the easy way or the hard way. Learning to grow up the easy way means that the student is up to date with their assignments, never is late to class, and gives all the dedication that is needed to become successful in their future. On the other hand, you have the majority of students that learn to grow up, but the hard way by always leaving their assignments to be done at the last minute or tuning …show more content…
One must always try to play the role of a creator and never be the victim. This means that when a situation occurs that you don’t know how to handle it doesn’t mean you play the victim and runaway like if there is nothing to do about it to solve. Instead you become the creator and take action of the situation to solve it. For example, one day in class my instructor, Mrs. Gonzalez, divided the class into groups, and gave each group a deck of cards and a paper to each group member that was is. We as the victims had to read what the paper said and try to understand what is the meaning of the paper and what do we do with the cards. The whole point of the activity was to try to a situation in where you are the victim and try to become the creator in the situation. This strategy will help me during my college experience. It will help me by making sure that I never play the role of a victim, by not making excuses for any situation or class assignment. To make sure that I never I play the role of the victim, I must make sure that I always stay on top of my class assignments, school and work environment to so that I won’t stay behind and be ready. By following this strategy I will learn to become the creator of any
Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
Sometimes students question themselves if college is really worth it? That question has many answers that only a student can answer and decide for him or herself. For some students college can have a positive, life-long outcome. However, there are many obstacles when it comes to college. A student has to be very dedicated in school, and they have to know how to manage their personal life, school and work. College seems like it has more negative effects than it does positive for some people. For the following reasons college is not worth the cost because it is very difficult to find jobs after graduating or they find a job that is not in their field, some students who are not academically prepared wind up dropping out of school and wasting their money and some students struggle to balance school life, personal life and work life. As a result these students end up dropping out of school.
College takes a serious toll on people, some are able to strive through and come out on top and some suffer from outside family issues, can’t financially keep up with school or just lack the skills that are needed for higher education. College sometimes just isn’t for everyone; and students can’t handle it all like I couldn’t myself.
To give my personal philosophy of success I would first have to define “success”. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. My success philosophy that I plan on implementing from now on is accepting personal responsibility for the good and bad choices I make. There will be time when I need to focus on school and worry less about my free time. If I have a test to take I have to study for that test to get a good grade and continuous good grades will help me pass the course. I can’t depend on anyone else to do my work for me I’m personally responsible for completing my assignments and turning them in on time. When the weekend comes around and all I do is procrastinate by telling myself I’ll study later. The smart thing to do about this situation would be to think wise and use my time-management strategies. I’ll always have time for myself, so sacrificing some free time now is well worth it. This helps me to be a creator and not the victim about things and keeping up with the self-management strategy. The success strategies that I will use will help my learning style, self-management and self-responsibility. Most people believe success is just having lots of money, cars, and women but I believe success is an individual sport and I have to be ready to play because the outcome of my performance is based on the work I put into it.
It seems as though the majority of college students these days aren’t looking to further their education because it’s what they really want, they do it to please their parents, to be accepted by society, or because there’s nothing else for them to do (Bird, 372). These expectations have led to students being unhappy and stressed, and have pushed them into a school or a job that they don’t particularly care for.
My philosophy of success, is me growing into the person I want to become and being comfortable with the choices I decide to make in life. Success is not something I can achieve overnight, it’s something I must plan for then proceed to working hard for it as well. Without hard work, there isn’t anything successful about the job I want to get done or the job I wish to get done. Doing anything without hard work and dedication, and expecting the best outcome is not success; it’s mediocrity. Being mediocre/ will only allow me or anyone else to have a ‘Victim’s Mindset.’
College students have to balance work, family, and college activists and any delaying behavior from within can cause an unbalance. This behavior is called procrastinating and it can lead to problems in many areas of a student’s life. College students are the worst hit by this type of behavior because they have many different activities to focus on instead of studying. These activities can cause students to study when they have time which often is usually too short amount of time. There is a time and place to relax and enjoy life, but if students focus on playing around instead of getting their assignments done, college life will be stressful.

Attention getter: Being a college student is rough! How many of you agree with that statement? Often our days consist of trying to ace all our classes, while trying to balance all our other responsibilities in between.
School is an exceptionally important phase in our lives. Elementary, middle school, high school, and college are the places where besides our homes we learn most of our principles and moral values. I consider high school and college as the most important chapters in my life. However, high school and college education systems differ from each other in various aspects. Back when I was in high school, I thought that college would be just a follow-up, but slightly more complicated. Now that I am a college student, I realize that it is considerably more complex than high school. I personally categorize college significantly harder than high school for the following reasons; complexity of subjects, treatment of the professors towards students, and
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. “The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful.
