I have been working towards a Masters degree since the time I completed my undergraduate studies. Practical application is as important as the theory behind any concept. The undergraduate coursework focused more on the theoretical approaches of Computer Science, and a graduate program at Illinois Institute of Technology will enhance my knowledge by adding that important understanding of practical applications. My fascination with computers dates back to my school days. The innumerable possibilities that one could perform with a computing device used to enthrall me. The impetus to innovate and my grasp on computers motivated me towards pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. I enjoyed studying subjects like Data Structures, Analysis of Algorithms, Database Management Systems, and Web Technology. I realized that the curriculum was exhaustive enough to give anyone an in-depth theoretical background of every subject, but as an Engineer was it enough? The fact that to excel and explore in this field I need to have something extra in my repertoire is imperative. Post Graduation in the field of Management Information System is what I would like to weave my future into. The global IT industry is growing exponentially. In it I see immense opportunities, today and in the long term. During my final semester of under graduate studies, I was involved in a project with Voltas India Limited and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The project involved spending twenty hours every week at the company and was more like an internship. Working with my team in a technical environment for the first time was an enlightening experience and made me realize the importance of teamwork and the effect it can have on the end product. This exposure n... ... middle of paper ... ...and scholarships subsequently. The faculty of IIT School of Applied Technology with their impressive education and research background are a testimonial of the knowledge they bequeath. While browsing through the research projects and publications, I was overwhelmed by the volume of research going on at the institute and it has convinced me to be part of such a magnificent endeavor. I am especially interested with working under Prof. Jeffrey Kimont because his subjects of expertise match my area of interest. My application to IIT is a vital step towards fulfilling my ambition and I believe that under the guidance of the esteemed faculty I will be able to contribute significantly at the institute. I am confident that my academics, professional background, dedication and passion for Information Management will help me make a notable contribution at your Institute.
Working in teams can be well-defined as when a group of people are brought together for the aim of a mutual objective. Each member in a group puts their abilities to accomplish the goals. Groups make exertion to complete the project, but not necessarily the project is achieved every time. Within a group, every member participates in a position to accomplish the group’s intentions. These positions add new and significant dimensions to physics of group colleagues. Bruce Tuckman’s team development theory provides a way to challenge the duties of assembling a squad through the achievement of an assignment. On the whole, each group associate played a vital responsibility to complete the project at the end of Client-Focused Business Solutions.
In today’s environment of companies doing business in a global economy, teamwork is essential. “Employees working in effective teams help increase productivity, employee involvement, and contribution, while reducing costs and flattening organizational structure (Adams, 2003). In contrast, ineffective teams can cause increased costs, waste valuable time, and contribute to losses in market share (Ross, Jones, & Adams, 2008)” quotes Jean McAtavey and Irena Nikolovska in an article in Human Resource Development Quarterly. Today, teamwork is found in virtually all workplaces.
Teams and teamwork have become a central part our work life. A team is a group of people with a full set of complementary
When I was in twelfth grade, our classmates had to code a game. Our class never had an experience designing a game; we always worked on small projects independently. This was our first time working in groups. We were allowed 3 students per group and each group had to make a unique game. During those two months, I learned that team work is a really important aspect of professional life. Our group decided to distribute work among ourselves and expected each other to finish it. Since we never designed a game before, it was hard
Doing work in group is inevitable task that every MBA or even Bachelor students have to encounter. Sometime, every task is done well, but sometimes, they must face with some problems because of diversity. In conducting the final group project of People, Organizations and Change Management, I can find out the several new issues to concern and cope with. The purpose of this essay is to identify personal characteristics of team members, show the performance of our team to get jobs done, and also come up with the problems and solutions.
