I am applying to the MS degree in computer science.
My passion in the field of computer science dates back to the days when my father bought me my first computer while I was in 5th grade. From then on it was no looking back. I scored very high in computer science during my pre-university schooling that got me admission to one of Karnataka’s most reputed colleges. I continued my superior academic performance with a distinction in every semester.
My decision to apply for a graduate education is based on my goal to work in the industry or academia and through this be able to contribute to society. Ten years from now, I envisage myself as a full-fledged research professional capable of founding an organization that offers software services. A masters degree is an important first step in achieving this objective.
My goal is to serve society by using computers as a platform. In India all official work from school to small scale offices is mostly carried out on paper because of a deficit of software and data warehouses. My intent is to start an organization which develops software as per the customer’s requirements and help them to maintain their data on a data warehouse with suitable architectures. To achieve this, I seek a quality graduate education, with rigorous course work and the opportunity for research in web technologies and database management systems.

State University of New York-Stony Brook, with its excellent course work, state of the art labs, and with the new computer science facility is the most appropriate choice for me. I would cherish the opportunity to work under faculty- Professor Michael Kifer, Research Assistant Professor Yevgen Borodin and Associate Professor C.R. Ramakrishnan as their research in the field of database relates to my interest. Stony Brook University’s huge campus, low tuition fees and location make it a perfect destination to pursue my graduate studies. If admitted, I guarantee that I will put in my full efforts towards the successful completion of my degree.
It is my strong belief that graduate study is indispensable for acquiring a deep understanding and insight in to the subject. Graduate study will not only provide me with advanced knowledge about the field, but also prepare me to become a good researcher. It is preciously this reason that prompted me to take up graduate studies as the next step towards my career objective. I had decided to pursue M S Degree and involve myself actively in research and development work. My ultimate in life is to be part of research teem, which will contribute for the benefit of mankind. With the knowledge gathered over the coming weeks I will be able to begin branching off into another direction for my career. I have aspirations of entering the computer analyst area of Lockheed Martin and armed with this class as well as the others I have already taken and will be venturing into over the coming months, I will be able to meet my objectives. This class lays a foundation of basic database understanding and without it I will not be able to understand database concepts.
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. The power of research and delivering it for the growth of Society is what makes me interested in the technology side of science. I choose to major Computer science Engineering with an intense urge to delve into this challenging field. During my under graduation program I learned the various fundamentals of Computer science Engineering which together with practical course works reinforced my interest.
My ultimate goal in my career is to make a commendable contribution to the computing world either by starting an innovative venture or doing research which would change the dimensions of future computing and the way we perceive the computers. Now I have determined that a dedicated higher study on Computer Science will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge & experience on the field and encourage in achieving my career goal. I am looking at Graduate studies to provide me with the required expertise to carry out higher studies.
