Introduction (Philosophy Points) Being here for four years at Liberty I have taken my classes that has helped me shape my own philosophy of worship partially because I have had classes that made me create my own theology and partially because these classes I have taken has shown me that it is important to have my own philosophy of worship. Also, I have served at many churches that also has helped me form some of my idea points. Leaving Liberty and stepping into a role as a worship pastor/leader I have created my own philosophy of what I would like to see in my ministry. An example of this is that people coming up to you after service and requesting songs that they think will be great. Most of the time these songs do not interest you, but some feel the need to sing some of the songs because they do not want to hurt the people’s feeling. Latitude church, where I have served for 2 years, has shown me the importance of not catering to people. Anytime people request something from the pastor about his preaching style or the worship leader with the style of music, the pastor or worship leader will explain the reason of why they do the things they do and go on to explain that if they have a problem with it that this might not be the church for you. Catering to people can lead a church in the wrong direction, because you are trying to please someone. What I am trying to say is that you can not please everyone and by pleasing some others will become angry. We cater to God and the will of God that he has placed on us. I led at a mega church which makes things really difficult to building relationships with people but there are still ways I tried to. Instead of hanging out with the people after service and sometimes before service I make an effort to go out and talk or hold the doors for people who are going in. A lot of people thinks that the band is unapproachable because a lot of times they only see the band hang out with each other and have special privileges that nobody else gets. I will always make an effort to building a relationship with as many people as I can. In the community I will love to serve in some capacity were I can reach out to others and invite them to church. If I can build relationships the community around my they will begin to warm up to the idea of trying out our church. In my ministry I don’t want to create an atmosphere like it’s the band then others. I want my worship team to build relationship with others as well as going out and greeting people on a Sunday morning.
