Self-Reflection Our moral compass is a natural feeling that helps us decipher good from bad behaviors. In addition to our moral compass, our personal values shape our behaviors and attitudes.. Our values are created throughout our life and is influenced by our family, society, and life events. Although, everyone has different values some individuals are easily swayed by leaders to compromise their values, for an example the Holocaust. It is obvious that Adolf Hitler abandoned his social values and created a havoc for those that resided in Germany. Yet, he valued religion. Normally, killing millions of people is frowned upon, but in the eyes of the ones killing the millions it is morally justified. The only reason I said normally is because normally people do not have the ability to kill millions without being sick in the brain. I’m not saying he wasn’t sane, but to the masses it seems like it. Value is important in philosophy because whatever someone values will be a guide to their philosophy. Everyone has different values because no one thinks the same. Even if people grow up in similar conditions, they will still not have the same values. For example, some rich kids have all they ever need and some are spoiled. Some of those types of kids turn out to be drug addict because they learned to value the high since everything was handed to them. Once coming to college, a lot of rich kids have that freedom they never had. Parents still giving them money to do whatever and they on value partying when it comes down to value. I had a friend here at UW-Parkside lose his life because he valued partying more than a lot of things and ended up taking his own life high on
