Relationships are a concept that everyone can relate to. In two literary works, My Life with the Wave and The Ice Man they both have plots that revolve around relationships, however the stories themselves are quite different. In order to analyze and compare them one needs to understand both of the stories.
My Life with the Wave is a short literary work about a man, the narrator who falls in love with a wave, a woman and however the woman changes after being with him. She feels unsatisfied with just the narrator and eventually starts to have affairs with other men. The protagonist is upset with the women having affairs and tries to fiend off her lovers. However, this tactic reveals to be futile. He later realizes he has neglected other

In the Ice Man, the narrator quotes, “All the South Pole people like him a lot, and they couldn’t understand a word I said. With white breath and frosty faces they talked, joked around, and sang songs in that distinctively spirited language of theirs.” The narrator is jealous that her husband is liked by others, but the others aren’t willing to try to speak with her. She eventually tries to learn the local language, however it seemed pointless. This jealously was rather mild compared to what was exhibited in My Life with the Wave. Narrator quotes “One day I couldn’t stand it any more; I threw open the door and launched after them.” The them is reference to the woman’s other lovers. From the statement one can assume that the narrator attacked lovers. Similarities of the stories can also be found from the characters. For example, both the narrator in the Ice Man and the narrator in My Life with the Wave are both curious about their prospective partner. In the beginning of the Ice Man, the narrator mentions her interest in the Ice Man and bluntly states, “I had to talk to him.” This goes to show her curiosity in the Ice Man. While in My Life with the Wave, the narrator initially showed disinterested in the woman, but later was curious about her. Another similarity both the narrators demonstrate is jealously, which was previously
Relationships can be a positive aspect in a person 's life. There are many significant attributes about relationships in the movie Rain Man by Ronald Bass that are comparable to the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Both of these stories are good examples of how relationships teach people how to be supportive and accepting. These stories also teach us about how spending time with a person brings you closer together and how over time the characters in the two stories learn the true value of friendship. It is apparent through both of these stories that a considerable part of most relationships are made up of support for one another.
The film, Life is Beautiful, and the memoir, Night, were both composed to tell about events in the same time period. Although many aspects of these are the same, the memoir and film differ in a numerous amount of ways.
Relationships play an important role in one's life. They are formed on the basis of love and understanding. Relationship helps various people in every aspect of life and assists them in being a better person. Such a relationship was found in the novel
A relationship is usually seen between the teller of a tale and the tale that he or she decides to share. Chaucer’s pilgrim, the Merchant, uses his feelings on marriage to teach a lesson in his tale. The Wife of Bathe also relies on her life experience to tell her tale. The two relationships in the tales can then be compared.

It is very clear that although the plots in the two stories have little in common; the underlying series of events are similar. In both stories there is an abandoned character, Skipper and cù mòr glas, that is rescued. Skipper and cù mòr glas are taken care of by their rescuer and given a potential second chance. In the end, Skipper and cù mòr glas unintentionally harm their rescuers either physically or emotionally; however their rescuers are both in pain. Even though “Skipper” is about a young boy growing up and “As Birds Bring Forth the Sun” is about a families heritage starting off with an animal attack, it is evident that the two characters, Skipper and cù mòr glas, live the same series of events in their own respective lives.
What is the meaning of the word “relationship”? Most of us hear this word every day, in other words “a state of affairs existing between those having relations and dealings. There are four types of relationships: couple, family, and friend. Most of the relationships can be difficult, romantic relationship seem to be the most complicated types. Sometimes two lovers can care for each others, yet they cannot talk to each others. When a problem occurs between two people for a long time, it most likely will get to a fight and most of the time to end the relationship. While watching The Break-Up movie, showed a lot of elements of the interpersonal relationships. The movie talked about two couple stayed together for a long time. And they started to fight about minor stuff that leads to end the relationship.
Many times in literature we can make assumptions in which a few major characters from two completely different stories can have much in common. Authors like Coraghessan Boyle of Greasy Lake and Raymond Carver of Cathedral demonstrate this perfectly. We as readers of these brilliant works can find ways to compare and contrast these in the sense that they are quite similar. From what we can tell both the narrator in Greasy Lake and the Narrator in Cathedral have a lot in common even though they come from completely different worlds. In T. Coraghessan Boyle’s short story “Greasy Lake”, the narrator tells a coming of age story of himself and two other teenage boys who think that they epitomize the image of “cool” and go to the Greasy Lake to
Interpersonal relationships can take many forms and develop from multiple different factors. For example, Pat Solitano and Tiffany Maxwell, two characters from the movie Silver Linings Playbook, seem to have developed consummate love – a combination of all three factors in Sternberg’s triangle of love theory, which are passion, intimacy, and commitment (Aronson, p. 390-91). Their relationship developed over the course of the movie, starting from a little passion or physical attractiveness, growing into a somewhat dysfunctional form of an exchange relationship with hints of jealousy as well as self-disclosure, into the consummate love that is seen at the end of the movie. The two characters start to develop intimacy, passion, and commitment
The homosocial relationship between the main character and their best friend connects these two novels by showing how the main character has the same purpose of taking revenge against the one who killed their loved ones, and the best friend who is always there to help and take care of the main character so he can complete his goal. The differences between them make the relationship closer and stronger, and it is proven by the authors through out the novels that no other person can take the place of their best friend.
time of their works, they both had many similarities in the theme of their stories and their goals of writing the stories.
Another, similarity these two stories have with each other is their themes. They shared powerful themes, such as how control can affect a person, and the insecurities one may have. ...
Despite the authors writing the stories decades apart, there are striking similarities between the protagonists. Defying the societal standard of the time, they rebelled against their marriages and strove for any feeling
In both short stories, two people who originally love each other end up with one person distancing themselves the other. In one we see a fantasy holding a relationship together and in the other we see it mediating a relationship falling apart. Thus it can be seen that in both cases, fantasies and illusions are not the surest way to hold together a bond between two people.
