My Life - Original Writing
I am woken up by a loud bleeping noise. It's the truck picking up the
rubbish left outside the kebab shop. I get up and stretch as my legs
ache from being curled up al night, trying to keep out the cold.
A cat brushes himself against my leg and sends a shiver up my spine
like the one I got when Jason was screaming at me for not telling him
I was going to be late from work.
It's a Sunday morning and I walk down the deserted street looking for
somewhere to have a cup of coffee, I only have eighty pence on me
which isn't enough for a bacon sandwich so I'll have to settle for a
coffee.
The church bells ring and the town women, all dressed in black and
navy blue, stand around the priest like bees round their hives and
congratulate him on the wonderful sermon and invite him round to their
houses foe tea and biscuits.
I walk into a shelter for a bite to eat, this place is warm and has a
cozy feeling even if I don't know anyone here.
I stand in the queue and wait to pick up some tomato soup, coffee and
a piece of bread. Further on along the queue there are two men arguing
over the last cranberry pie. That takes me back to the rainy, humid ,
terrifying night that I ran away. My face starts to sting as I
remember Jason Slapping and shaking me. The hot coffee spills over my
hand making me jump back to reality, the volunteer apologizes
repeatedly for burning my hand.
I grab my tray and walk over to a deserted table in the corner of the
room, I sit down and pick up a newspaper that is left on the chair
next to me. This paper is full of greasy oil and smells like fish and
chips have been eaten of it. My attention is drawn to the headline
'Young woman abandons 8 year old child for street life' I read on and
What will you do if you find yourself in a situation without electricity, internet, fridge, gas, television, hospitals, local store? How will you react in such a scenario?
I say goodbye to the friendly couple, knowing it’s likely I’ll never see then again. That’s how it is at the laundromat I guess. You meet people, pass the time, and then you all go your separate ways. I wonder out loud, as I go, if the pyjama lady will remember to come back for her clothes. I guess I’ll have to check out the lost and found next time.
My legs are way too tired to keep me up, so I don’t mind that I’m probably sitting on a cigarette butt in my nice jeans. My stomach is doing leaps from excitement: I’m here after seeing a Julian + the Voidz show with one of my best friends, Shriya, waiting around and cracking jokes after midnight. While we know Julian Casablancas might come through the back stage door at any moment, we are sure the night won’t have been wasted if he doesn’t show. It’s all part of the fun: We commune with the other girls circled near the bolted door, cracking jokes about the band members and sharing bags of
Sitting at my desk, I got out my pencils and sketch book. As soon as my pencil hit that paper, everything seemed to melt away. Drawing whatever
So I quickly get on all my clothes grab my bag and I ran down the stairs as fast as lightning.
Raven: *sigh* Now, what do I do!!?? Who else can I go to? Umm… maybe Bear?.. yeah Bear! He’ll surely have food! He’ll help me!
My wife and I had decided that it was time for a new car. For the past 3 years I had been driving a hand-me-down 2001 Chrysler Concorde and my wife was driving our 2006 Dodge Magnum. As time went by the Concorde began to have one problem after another. The engine had over 200,000 miles and it was obvious by the way that it drove. I could feel it start to break down. The Magnum was a good and dependable car, but it was not suitable for the amount of driving that my wife had to do for her work. We got our financing in order and began to look at new cars within our price range. We took the old Concorde to the dealership and were able to trade it in towards a car that was more suitable for our needs.
I am presently studying for a Family History Diploma, the deeper I delve into your life story my admiration and respect for has become awe-inspiring, we are grateful for your decision to emigrate.
My name is Marco Soliman. I’m 18, Egyptian citizen, and I have been in the U.S. for five years. I started liking cars and wanted to know more about them, when I started high school. I started to want to own a car to modify it. I got my first car on my 15th birthday. I was so happy suddenly, a lot of ideas popped in my head on what I want to do to the car. I’m a car fan, I started to like cars a lot that it became, “my favorite thing in life.” Which a lot of people think, that it’s stupid and just a ride. According to “car people” who I’m one of them, a car is not car if it’s stock. Racing and working on cars became my habit. I joined Antioch High School, Automotive Tech. program in 2013, 11th grade. In my Maintains/light Repair class, I mastered working on cars for three years, with the help of my teacher Muhlstadt. I mastered the car repairing, electric, and alignment. One day as I walk out of school heading to my car, and as I got closer there was a big scratch on my front bumper, didn’t feel right at all that time, but I got down to it and started to research for ways to fix the paint, I chose the vinyl wrapping because it was the cheapest. I wrapped the whole bumper and it looked good, and I thought of why I didn’t have that before it would have protected my paint from that day. I had the idea of adding a aluminum layer on the bottom of the vinyl sticker. Adding vinyl wraps to your car will cost you $200 - $300. Yes it is cheap because when your car gets scratched the paint gets peeled it will cost at least $900 for a cheap repair and it will still not be as good as the stock paint. Vinyl wrapping is not too hard to install or remove the install process will take you from 4 – 6 hours, and you can do it yourself....
apartment, I let my friends know that I was going to be taking notes on the dinner for a paper.
My ears perked up from the sound of little thuds and was then followed by a noisy screech, like metal rubbing onto metal.
I’d be walking home when the outside rushes up to greet me with all the breathlessness of a Sunday afternoon. There is an unsaid magnificence in how the wind taps against my shoulders like a countermelody, fireflies haloing the honey of lantern light, the sharp glitter of rainfall. Kids bouncing soda cans along the sidewalks. Or sometimes I’d be idling along the small park pond, watching tiny iridescent fish wink across a dark map of water. Look! The burst of emerald here. That silvery-orange over there. And look! There, and there, and there.
Ever since I was a small child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the
~ You hear someone yelling and ran back into the shadows. You hear a group of people running to the dead bodies. You slowly slip deeper into the shadows until you hear a neigh. ~
I walk on by, get into my shining convertible (which is now speckled with signs of yet more rain) and speed away.
