Experience with My Group Project
Working with my group for the project gave me a chance not only to understand and learn the group working culture, but also to understand more about my group members or my classmates. Despite some difficulties and discomfort, I thought this was a great learning process that I had ever had in my life.
Our project was related to the process of discover an average life of a college student through the ways he/she would do to become rich, which was an interesting topic for me. At first, my group was reluctant between this topic and another topic which was related to sports; however, we decided to go with the first one because of its close relationship with the American culture and with a student’s life. Getting rich was the economic ambition of many people, and I wanted to learn how it would be viewed from social scientific aspects. After doing the project, I learned that it was difficult to conduct interview and survey without asking leading questions. My group firstly started some interviews with open-answer questions, and the variation of the answers was quite large. Then, we narrowed down the answers by changing the questions to multiple choices; however, this might result in biased answers if our sample was too small.
The experience when working with my group was fun and good when my group members came to class or had in-person meetings after class. I remembered there were two or three times I had the chances to discuss the project with the whole group, and I really appreciated those discussions. Kevin pointed out some good ideas for our project when he went to class. Mathew usually went to class and had discussion with me. For examples, the idea to present the song at the beginning of our presentation was strongly disagreed at first place, and I would have no chance to present it if my group members did go to class to discussion the project on the day we were allowed to make our final decisions.
Doing the group project gave me an opportunity not only to learn about the topic that my group chose, but also have interactions with others when doing interviews and group work. This process helped me understand and experience real life’s working environment and prepare for my future career. The project also strengthened a thing that I considered important in my life: I could not judge people by my own values; sometimes, I had to put myself into one’s position and context to understand them and their behaviors.

I really enjoyed the small group projects. I like that we got to discuss topics intimately. Small groups allow every individual the time and comfort to talk freely. This is important in classes like this because it allows ideas to flow freely, and group members can collectively build on each other’sthoughts. For example, when one of us had an idea about using artifacts in the exhibit, other people came up with ways that we could showcase them without using walls. We had a variety of ideas ranging from using suitcases, to display tables to creating the landscapes that many undocumented immigrants cross to enter the united states. Furthermore, I feel that our small group gave us each enough confidence to speak our thoughts and ask for help with assignments when we needed them. Rather than competing against one
Our group proved to be productive and a bonding experience. We created together, we stressed together, we laughed together, and the group gave itself group “air hugs” when we felt we had done a good job. For the rest of my BASW education I will feel closer to these individuals than I do with the rest of the cohort. Our time together provided us the opportunity to reach greater understandings and appreciations of one another.

And we all find out somethings we don’t know about each other and we realize we formed a very diverse group in many perspectives such as work industries, job descriptions, life experiences, beliefs and personalities. And with the human resources in this group, we can help with each other a lot in this project. One thing that made our team effective was a clear unity of purpose. Each objective presented to us was broken down and discussed freely within the group until each team member had a clear idea of the objective and their own responsibilities in the project. Being an effective team we also delegated our part of work without any problems and we decide to work in a very transparent working environment which means sharing all information on time. So, others can check the progress of one’s work as well as giving feedback and suggestions. We also encouraged a very comfortable and informal working atmosphere on our team. There was no unnecessary stress on anyone, which help everyone feel interested and involved. We often held in person open discussion prior to the class and if a team member is missing, we would email him/her to fill him/her in
The group discussion has just passed, and it was really a hard work and challenging. There were many precious lessons I got, and, hopefully, so did with my friends. Our group was consisting of four students. As a quantity, reasonably, we had had enough power to do a better work and gained a satisfying result. As I flashed back to the group discussion, it was enriching my memories. Some were in high spirit, remarkable and enjoyable. Opposite to it, few were disappointing.
I was not familiar with the members of my group at first. However, as we got to learn more about each other, working in a group naturally became more enjoyable. I wasn’t fond of the amount of writing that we had to do for our website, but knowing that my group was there to lend a hand to anyone of us who needed help really encouraged me to work hard. Being able to communicate easily with my group was also important when it came to working as a team. I felt that my group and I were able to work together pleasantly to complete this project. put us in a group project. The project we had to do was to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks, and see how many textbooks it could hold without breaking. In this case working in a group project is better because others see the flaws you create and fix it when you would not notice it. An example of a flaw is when I thought only two parallel sides would hold up those heavy textbooks. When we observed it, we realized it would fall quickly because the weight would not have been distributed nicely. I am for group projects because it lets kids share knowledge together, so you could get the greatest grade you could possibly get.
Working in groups can be a very positive or very negative experience. How a group functions together determines how positive or negative that experience becomes. All go through four stages of development, forming, norming, storming, and performing.. Unfortunately for our group, many of the members experienced some of these stages together and other missed out on that opportunity of original growth. Kirst-Ashman and Hull describe these stages as a pattern of development. This allows the group members to see how they are working together but also allows observers to see what stage the group is stuck on. I had hoped for my group to develop past the first stage of development quickly, however as a whole we couldn’t seem to get over this limbo of being a forming or norming group. Our group was not the best functioning, but working together taught me the important pieces of being a group member as well as working within a group.
I enjoyed working as a group, as it meant I could experience other people's opinions and ideas that I may not have come to my mind during the time and gave me a different perspective on how to approach the oral presentation. I have learned how to work as a group, all our ideas helped me, raising my knowledge with information, and finding new learning techniques that have changed the way I consider what I'm prepared
After completing the group task of preparing a presentation on, transferring individual facilitation skills into a group work setting I will critically reflect upon my own participation. I will evaluate my self-awareness while working in the group, as well as those around me. The way that I personally dealt with any issues that arose within the group and how that affected the group dynamics. I will also briefly discuss the roles in which each member of the group took and how role allocation affected, the group dynamics and the working relationships. Finally I will evaluate my work having discussed it with my fellow group members.
This turned out to be the positive group experience for me and other group members. The team was sufficiently strong from the very beginning through the development phase to the end without any incident of conflict and disagreement. Every group member is reliable and understands their roles working in a group. They also understand the significance of progressing collectively towards the shared and common goal. In other words, our group reflected the synergy by the association we held with each other as a team and, thus, reflecting an example of being a successful
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
