As far as Motivation goes, I think I’m highly motivated to do this goal, or at least, I have many factors that motivate me to do it. The textbook definition of Motivation is “goal-directed behavior.” A few weeks ago, I got to thinking about the reasons I decided to do this goal. I knew that I wanted to learn American Sign Language, but I couldn’t quite remember where this desire began, and then one day in Psychology class, I found my mind wandering, and I remembered that I wanted to learn ASL because of my younger brother. ... keep both a hard copy and a soft copy. Keeping a calendar on my wall and on my phone allows me to have multiple reminders to do something. However, I never once wrote to do my SMART goal in my calendar. Instead, I wrote when my reflection journals were due. I’m not sure why exactly I didn’t write my goal in my calendar. I think maybe because I wanted to keep it fun and not a chore. However, I should have realized that sometimes I just need a reminder to do something, even something I love. For example, sometimes I write down all the stuff I want to learn to do or accomplish like learning to play the ukulele. Overall, all these factors take a part in why this goal has or hasn’t been getting accomplished. Factors such as Motivation and Coping should be what gets the goal completed, however, things like Stress and as much as I hate to admit, Personality get in the way.
