The role of a teacher is to facilitate education for their students which is often an ongoing process. Through this facilitation a teacher takes with him or her certain set of skills and talents. He or she must also be well versed in important areas of knowledge such as science, math, history, social studies or art, given their qualifications and experience. Key areas to look for in a teacher are not only their qualifications but their personality traits as well. Is this person lively and active or dry and monotone? Will they mesh well in the environment they are to be placed in? What have they accomplished in their life? How much experience do they truly have with working with children or young adults? These are a few questions that must be asked when trying to determine if a teacher will be a great fit to a school. If teaching is in my future how will I support my claim that I am the right person for the job? What I would need to do is assess my skills, I will also need to bring my talents, personality and experience to the table as well as my achievements to hopefully get the job and from there set a good example to my students so they can view me as a role model.
Working with students can be an easier task if one has a few set of skills and talents. Speaking publicly comes easier to me than to many other people. Speaking publicly can be broken down into a few parts. Speaking loud enough so that everyone can hear is important. It is important to have ones voice travel around the room so everyone can hear. Teachers need to be able to deal with the tantrums and the lack of participation, the attitudes, attendance and any problem that may occur in the school environment. The way I see my future is as a school counselor or rehabilitation counselor/psychologist.
In conclusion, I believe I have a few great qualities within me that can allow me to be a great teacher. However, my heart isn’t in teaching. I don’t believe teaching is for me because I don’t have the drive and passion to pursue it. I look at many of the teacher prep students around me and hear their stories and see their drive but see how we are on divergent paths. In general, I praise teachers and students becoming teachers because they aren’t appreciates enough and deserve more praise than they typically do.
Continuing to study education and children psychology will contribute to my future profession because I believe teachers never stop learning and that we need to continue going to school to be able to provide excellent services to children. I think educators need to continue and not stop their studies because children need the best education and guidance. I learned in this class that educators need to be role models for children and their families and that we need to respect their culture to be able to understand them

I want to be the teacher that the kids remember not only because I was but but also because I taught them something and gave them a new way of critically looking at things. I think I'll be good at implementing the social learning theory because I enjoy being involved and if doing so if helpful to them then its another added bonus. I hope I can keep my ideas fresh and creative through the use of technology so I always keep the children interest and keep them motivated and wanting to learn more. I believe that if you can get a kid motivated to learn then you can find a way to teach them anything. Life is unpredictable and there are an infinite number of paths for one to choose from as they journey through life. One “trail” that seems to be a popular choice to travel is that of an educator. Why is this? What makes the sharing of knowledge so special? Perhaps there is an unparalleled joy in enlightening someone else. Perhaps it is a combination of unlimited elements that drives individuals to be educators. And perhaps there is no one sure answer to these questions. One thing is for sure, our world has seen its share of tremendous and inspiring teachers come and go with the passing years and generations of people. Unfortunately, this world has also seen its share of educators who were not so noticeable and effective. Again, I ask why is this? What makes some teachers more effective and inspiring than others? Could the difference be discovered through viewing their individual philosophies on education? My personal conclusion to this question is a resounding YES. It is an educator’s philosophy on teaching that makes the difference. Up to this point in life, I’ve simply been a student of this world, but as I move forward in life I aspire to cross the line that all before me have crossed to become educators. How will I achieve this? More importantly, will my personal philosophy elevate me to become an inspiring and encouraging teacher? And most importantly, what exactly is my philosophy on education? I believe I am the best fit for the job because I have a passion for teaching. I grew up loving school and continue to love school at university because I am always learning new things. By pursuing the goal of teaching, I am able to return what I appreciated from my teachers and be able to teach kids new things like they taught me. I consider myself as a good communicator and easy to get along with. I am able to make connections with new people weather it be parents, teachers of students. I also have the ability to work in a team, as I used to play soccer, which revolves around working in a team and co-operating in a team. I believe that there is a need for compassionate and caring teachers in elementary schools. To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
My interest in teaching started at a young age. I used to watch my teachers in awe as they were able to find new ways to get their students involved and excited to learn. Their enthusiasm to teach was so inspiring. I would often find myself using that same fervor as I grasped each concept. I, then, was able to relay it to my fellow classmates as a peer tutor. To this day, becoming a teacher is a passion that flows through me. However, my enthusiasm and passion are not the only reasons I would be a good teacher. I aspire to see a student’s ability to grasp the knowledge they never before understood. I aspire to see a student succeed at something they never thought they ever could. A good education has always been drilled into my head ever since I was a little girl. Boy did I hate that, all I wanted to do was goof off and have fun with my friends. But as the years went on I started to realize how important it was to have a good education. Not that that made me like school anymore than I did; but I was realizing the different ways I was learning and how different people taught. I remember saying one day, when I was a freshman in high school, that if I was teaching this class I would have never taught it that way. Unfortunately, my teacher overheard me and I was forced to go to the front of the room and explain to the class the way it should be taught since I knew so much about teaching. Needless to say I did an awful job of it. That is when I started thinking about becoming a teacher. I know that does not make sense because I did such an awful job and was humiliated doing it. I did not like the way that man taught and I was determined to take his job. However, the reason I am here today is not that I want to take a teacher’s job; it is because I have the desire to make a difference in the lives of many students. I hope I will be a good teacher so that I will never have to hear a student say something bad about my teaching.
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
One quality that would make me a good teacher is, I am good with kids. I believe a teacher needs to be able to care for the children they are teaching. Also, you should be ecstatic about being able to be an influence on their lives. I like working with kids and like to help them understand things they may not know. When I was in Middle School we did a thing called “Study Buddies.” We would go to the classrooms everyday for the last few periods of the day and help kids read and do their homework. I worked with three kids everyday and they were so genuine and appreciative.
In order to become an excellent teacher, one would need to display exceptional public speaking abilities. I have dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was a child, and I plan to be the best teacher I can be, which makes intercommunication, especially public communication, key. I am an advanced public speaker, because I demonstrate elocution, confidence, personality, and exceptional knowledge when I am public speaking. Within these main components of a speaker are: delivery, style, spotlight effect, credibility, and rhetoric. All of these qualities and concepts affect how an audience receives the speech and how persuasive or informative it is.
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
