When a child is born it brings a parent much joy and excitement. When the baby enters the world they are helpless humans that depend on others to survive. A baby will be so dependent on its caregiver to learn and develop. Milestones are things that some children are doing at that age, however; not all children will meet those milestones. Children are individuals and should be looked at as such. The author of a news story from News Bank Access World News states, “Nothing replaces contacting your pediatrician if you have any questions or concerns, but the following may help you to identify and nurture specific developmental milestones” (Diana, 2011).
Child’s Sensory Experiences at Birth
The child’s sensory experiences at birth are very acute then what some people would think. At birth a child can pretty much hear, unless there is something wrong with the child’s hearing, however; it will improve as the baby grows and develops. At such young ages babies can distinctly smell who their mother are from other mothers. When a baby is born the sense of taste will develop fully over time; however, at birth a baby will prefer sweetness over any other taste. The text states, “First, vision is probably the least well-developed of the infant's senses” (Lefrançois, 2012). A newborn’s vision can appear be a little blurry but they can see pretty well for being in a women’s womb, for example they can see shadows and figures of people.
Senses Development and Evolve
Over the next few months the child will grow and develop so much that every day will be filled with mouth dropping excitement. Hearing for infants will become more defined but will still need more development to reach their full range of hearing. In the text the author me...

Conclusion
The first year of a child’s life is so moving and full of heart felts smiles. They grow and develop at should speeds that is so amazing to watch and encourage them to continue their development. Even though, as parent you want your child to reach those milestones at the age it states, parents must remember that all children develop at different rates. Milestones are simply information for parents and other personals to monitor a young child’s development and growth

By day 22, the child’s heart begins to pump with their own blood. By week 5 the child’s eyes, legs, and hands begin to develop. By weeks 9 and 10 the baby is able to turn its head and frown. This article also shares with us that by the 20th week gestation, the baby can recognize its mother’s voice. And lastly it gives us the last steps before the baby is born; 7 to 9 months gestation is when the baby is using four of the five senses. He knows the difference between waking and sleeping and can relate to the moods of the
Infants are born aware of their environment from the moment of birth. This suggests that at birth the visual and auditory systems of infants are intact and fully functional.
For a child of two years of age Sullivan (2015) says that a typical child of two years of age should be reaching these milestones or carrying out these
The first stage is infancy and it covers the first year of life. The issue in this stage is trust versus mistrust. This is a stage where an infant is completely dependent on their caregiver. Trust is built by the actions of the caregiver taking care of the child by feeding, bathing, changing diapers, showing affection, etc. If a child is not well taken care of then that child will not learn to trust others. New parents struggle with this stage a lot because of the loss of freedom and the diversion of some attention from spouse to newborn child. It is known as the oral-sensory stage because infants use their mouth to explore their new world. Parents must meet the
...e more knowledge in research and being able to set goals and obtain information for future reference. By using the developmental stages and using the milestone of development I was able to receive important information to address each stage of development, Example as using the Millstone for children down syndrome if it I had not search for information I would have not known that this information exist. My experience with this study was gave me a greater respect for the teachers that give their whole life to teaching children at risk.
The mind of an infant and toddler is a sponge to language. Whether or not the child is able to speak, their brain is rehearsing and affirming the linguistic structures they hear, and the period of baby talk—called “babbling”—is a crucial time of experimentation with sound. During this time, the child will babble while in social situations in order to see which phonological structures receive positive responses from their parents—i.e. which combinations of sounds elicit responses. If a child cannot hear the sounds that their language offers, the child does not have the opportunity to babble. A child with significant hearing loss will still make sounds in infancy, but will quickly cease due to the lack of response and the fact that they cannot hear the sounds they are making and so cannot affirm them for themselves.
The first stage is the neonatal or newborn stage, which ranges from birth to one year at this stage are also consider infants. The nursing assessment for infants must consider several aspects of the infant’s developmental
The first two years of a infants development is crucial. They are dependent on their caregivers to provide them with enough nutrition, nurturing, attention, love, and experiences to not only learn about their surrounding world but how to interact with it. Without these experiences a babies brain isn’t given the chance to grow and develop the way that is was designed to. Unfortunately in many circumstances if these experiences don’t happen early on children suffer
The different stages are based on different types of development such as motor skills, speech, social skills and hearing and vision. When a child is about 1 ½ months old they are able to hold up their own head steady. Of course they aren 't able to talk so the baby just does a lot of cooing and babbling. Even though children are very young they are very selective about who they communicate with. The baby usually will focus on the parents when it comes to who they see and hear, although they love to look at new faces and can even smile at their parents. Babies are often startled by any sudden
It discusses how children are born with that needs to connect with individuals around them. Teachers and providers create positive relationship with children from birth through the early years. The foundation for that healthy social and emotional development because it affects her children see the world, express themselves, manages their emotions, in establishing a positive relationship with others. There were several areas of development that included social interactions that focus on the relationship that we share and include relationship with adults and peers. Emotional awareness recognized and understands your feelings and actions of other people, and self-regulation where you have that ability to express your thoughts, feelings, and behavior in a socially appropriate way. There were many tips that were listed when working with infants from talking and reading, having that warm, responsive, and consistent care, maintaining predictable routines, and getting to know each child while following their lead. The importance of supporting children and developing social skills is critical for learning, happiness, and long-term. This development begins during infancy and can be supported through simple social games, emotional role model, and imitating an infant's facial expression and sounds. The importance of social-emotional development and toddlers makes an impact in a child life when these skills are developed starting in infancy. Encouraging positive behaviors and using positive discipline practices that helped to develop the ability to make good choices as well as recognizing the confidence that is built when these behaviors are repeated. This is a process for young children to learn these behaviors always remembering that a patient response will help especially when the behaviors are
Every choice made during the early development of a child has the potential of affecting the rest of their life. If every parent, educator, or caretaker raised a child with this statement in mind, children would be given the best chance at developing to their fullest potential. Early childhood development has many aspects to it, but the three main developmental areas are physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional. Each developmental stage is just as important as the next and becoming aware of how they work can help parents and caregivers better understand how to raise a child most effectively.
Specific milestones in my physical development that were late are, rolling over, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking. I did not roll over on my own until I was about six months old and sitting on my own occurred about a month later. It was not until ten months of age that I began to crawl, and I did not walk until I was about fourteen months. The normal development for infants is to be rolling over at about three months, sitting at approximately five and a half months, crawling at around six to seven months and walking at around twelve months (Feldman, 2014). In comparison to normal infant physical development, my development was around three months behind normal
Children develop at their own rate and children of the same age will not necessarily develop the same knowledge and skills. The Early Years – Development Matters document informs practitioners of children’s development from birth to 60+ months. This document is for practitioners to understand the age and stage of development and will help to identify a child whose development is delayed.
The development milestones consist of four stages in life in which we grow and learn as humans. First, there is the sensorimotor stage which occurs from age zero to age two where the child now understands how his or her actions can affect the environment around them. Second, comes the preoperational stage which involves children from the ages of two to seven where the child now thinks symbolically about the objects around them. Third, is the concrete operational stage which occurs in children between the ages of seven and eleven where the child can now deal with general core education problems such as math. Finally, there is the formal operational stage which occurs in children who are eleven years of age and older where these children are now becoming adolescents and adults and they now have the mental capacity to think absolutely and critically. We can clearly observe these steps in everyday life simply by observing children in their environment and noting how each and every child react to their
As I plan to eventually work with young mothers who have children who are in the foster care system or who are fighting to get their children back, I want to have a clear understand of what it will take to establish a healthy pregnancy. It will be important to implement the prenatal development to these future mothers. Making sure that these mothers have an understanding of what is important in the first stages of prenatal care of their children. For example, going to Doctor’s appointments, taking vitamins, eating healthy, and staying active. This will help provide a safe and healthy pregnancy for any children they may have. I also believe that gaining knowledge over the stages of development will be beneficial to know for the mothers who are fighting to have their children back. Some of these mothers I could be working with might not know what to expect of their one-year-old child. For example, how their brain is developing, what they should be doing cognitively or socially. As a future family life educator, it will be important that I have a clear understanding of these concerns of the child and the development process for the mothers who have the urge to get care of their children
