Coming into a new high school, freshman year, I had to learn about how to adapt to the school and the environment very quickly. I still remember the first day I walked on campus one hot summer sunny day. As I walked up and down the campus walkway I stared at each of the eight buildings, intrigued with each building’s unique structure and amazed that each building was made out of actual bricks. She said, “Don’t worry about your speech just talk until you pass three minutes that’s all you have to do. As long as you breathe and have fun, you will be fine. Okay?” I then nodded to her. As we walked back into the room I looked at my peers one more time and began to start talking in class about my speech. When my speech was finally over, my classmates clapped harder than they did for others, and I did not understand why.
