Identify the sport you play
My favorite sport that I love to play is basketball. I am interested in participating in playing the sport of basketball because that is one of the most common sports played growing up in the New York City. I’ve always been interested in it because it was another way me and my dad to bond together. When I was 6 years old, I fell in love with game of basketball while playing at the court in front of my building. Since then, I’ve been blessed to play up to the colligate level and travel around the U.S. while playing AAU basketball.
Identify the sport you watch
Basketball is the sport I like to watch the most. I like watching the sport of basketball because I grew up going to different New York Knicks, New York Liberty and New Jersey Nets (currently Brooklyn Nets) games. I’m interested in watching basketball because of the environment around me. In the Bronx, NY there is sports betting spots where people go to bet on sport games. Friends and other people around me bet on sports games and win big if you knew different ways to bet on games. Friends around me went to each other houses to watch the games that night they bet. This was part of my influence of why I’m interested in watching basketball games.
Similarities between watching and playing
My similarity in watching basketball and playing basketball is that I can take what I learned from watching certain players play and apply it to how I play the game. For example, my favorite player is Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. One of his signature moves is using the triple threat move as an option to score, pass or dribble (Triple threat position watching Youth basketball, 2016). Physical skill of participants is defined as the appreciation that a...

...ust a fan of the sport (i.e., spectator), an individual has the opportunity to focus on the game and not any problems that may be causing angst in his or her everyday life. (Trail, G., & James, J. D. (2015) pg. 182) I use escape as a need to get away from any situation that is causing my stress or problems to go watch basketball. After watching basketball, I feel more relax, stress free and can go on with my day without worrying about all the problems I have because I just watched basketball as a need to escape.
Conclusion
Overall, the sport I identify with most to watch and play is basketball. Because of the few similarities and differences of both watching and playing basketball, I provided examples from personal experience as well as information from our class to help support my viewpoint of the way I view basketball as a player and as a fan of watching it.

Essay on The Super Bowl And The Sport Of American Football

- Sport as a whole has changed in relation to the contemporary American economy by its constant growth and push for revenue. It has become a sort of “you scratch my back, I scratch yours.” type of relationship. I say this because of the amount of time and attention invested into making sport something that appeals to all people of American society rather than just the fans of the action itself. The constant negotiations for television deals, sponsorships, competition with other TV shows, and programs for time slots available within a network all play a large factor....   [tags: American football, National Football League]
