My favorite place as a child was County Park Lake. When we had family picnics because we all got together and there was great food and kids playing and the adults playing horse-shoes and could tell there was love for one another. There was no other place like this when I was a child. Some of my fondest memories was at that picnic site we should all have memories likes those. The entire family got together and it was always a last minute thing but no matter what was going on we all decide we would go up to County Park Lake to have family time. There would be my grandma and my Aunts and Uncles and their kids when we pulled up to the parking lot. Under the shade trees the women would be sitting trying to stay cool and the older men of the family stand around a grill they would be sitting up the charcoal pyramid to lite to start grilling the food while the kids where at the tot lot playing the equipment you could hear the laughter of the kids playing . Each person has a place that calls to them, a house, plot of land, town, a place that one can call home. It fundamentally changes a person, becoming a part of who they are. The old summer cabins, the bedroom that was always comfortable, the library that always had a good book ready. The places that inspire a sense of nostalgic happiness, a place where nothing can go wrong.
It never really had to be the sandy beaches at Little Egypt, it was just being together with my two best friends. That was all that mattered. Time stood still when we were together, ten minutes for us three was two hours for the rest of the world. Where did all the time go, I’m not really sure. I am sure that those days at the Little Egypt with Leslie, Becca, and my brothers were some of the best days of my life.
My favorite place to be would be the city and are of McGregor Minnesota. About eight miles north of the small town is Big Sandy Lake, which is where my cabin is located. This is truly my favorite place to be, especially during the warm summer months.
The car ride was always the longest but we all knew it was worth it. We arrived at the campsite ready to finally get out of the small compacted car. We unpacked everything and still had time to go hangout around the campsite before the sun went down so my brother and I went fishing while my sister and mom went down to the playground. When we got back the second family had arrived.
When I was about 10 years old, my mom took me to a roller coaster theme park in Massachusetts. I was terribly afraid of the huge roller coaster that appeared in front of me, and while I waited in line, the anxiety of waiting to die in a roller coaster made my heart beat through my chest. The huge coaster went up and down and up and down, and even though my mom continuously asked me if I was sure that I wanted to go, I repeatedly said yes. I wanted to make it clear that I was a man, not a crying baby. Stepping onto that roller coaster was what I remember the most.
When we got on the other side of the lake we got the fishing poles, minnows and gas. We had to take the gas to put in the boat motor. It was a one mile walk to get to the other lake. When we got to the lake we put the fishing tackle in the boat and then we went and started fishing for lake trout. We had to put two hundred feet of string down with a minnow on it. We had the minnow on a hook called a cow bell, it had bright neon color beads on it so the fish were able to see it in that dark water. We each were allowed to catch and keep 3 fish. I caught 2, Luke caught 3, Grandpa caught 3 and Grandpa’s friend caught 3. Then we started back to the cabin to have the fish
We were at a fishing pond in the country near Eureka. It was going to be an awesome day, hot and sunny, and then of course this had to happen! I was with my brother Brandon & my sister Kendra, and there were also lots and lots of trees around!
One hot summer day in July, my dad's side of the family wanted to go to Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa. It was a yearly tradition for all of us grandkids to go with just our grandma and grandpa. Usually they went into the park, watched us go on a couple rides,rode some with us, then they would leave the park and go shopping instead.That ment all the cousins got to be in the park alone.
My dream place would be a house on a Galapagos Island. My land will be located on the Isabella Island. It will be nice and relaxing because it has a constant weather all that time, perfect environment. Also I will have a nice 2 floor cabin. The cabins will look like the ones that you see in forest. My whole family will live there after I am 75. But before that I will spend my time gathering all the money to buy a piece of land, a plane, a boat, and some vegetable seed (lot of them). I want my dream place to be nice and relaxing where you can enjoy the environment and very peaceful weather.
I spent many memorable summers at my "secret place." I will cherish those times and memories forever. Even though the root cellar was only a huge mound of dirt with a wood pile and a tree, to me, it was whatever I wanted it to be for that moment in time. It could be a bakery, a battle field or a castle. Having an imagination then, has helped me now to have an open mind to see things from other people's point of view and to be able to imagine the possibilities in any real life situation. .
The world is full of many places and over time those places begin to change. Sometimes it is for the better and others it is for the worse but people don’t realize the effect that place has on other things, or how it relates to the future. Throughout this paper I will discuss the historical findings about my place, Honey Creek Park in West Allis, WI, and the reasoning behind why I think that if we don’t fix the way we view environmental places, whether it is a park, city, building, forest, etc that we will develop the world into a place where humans are its unworthy inhabitants.
I don't have a lot of fantastic memories of childhood. There were no spectacular family adventures, no unique family projects that taught some sort of moral lesson, no out-of-the-ordinary holidays. We ate family meals together, but most of the time the children and adults lived in different worlds. The kids went to school, did homework, and played; the adults worked. I was lucky, though. When I wanted a little of both worlds, I could always turn to Grandpa.
What are the places you remember fondly from childhood? Places I remember fondly from childhood are my camp, the West Virginia State Fair, and my aunt’s sandwich shop. My bivouac was one of my favorites because The surrounding nature engulfed it and had trails that led to enchanting places that I could ride off road. Another place I enjoyed to go was the West Virginia State Fair, my whole family made a trip there together. Finally, my third favorite place was my aunt’s sandwich shop in Clinton, Tennessee.
