Discomforts are important to endure because they teach you who you are and what you believe in. We learn many different lessons from the things we experience during our lives. My father has overcame many difficulties in his life such as his birth mother passing away when he was younger, his parents not making a lot of money, his parents splitting up during his late teenage years, and his inability to finish college. Through losing his mother he learned to not take for granted the people in his life. He also learned from his parents that he did not want to raise his children like they did. From the lack of money he grew up with, he developed a hard worker attitude. He was determined to not maintain the life he knew for his children. My parents fight and argue but they have never talked about splitting up or getting divorced. My father suffered through that and it caused a lot of stress and tension. This stress hindered school and education which eventually put a hold on dreams. Although my father could not finish college, he provides everything possible so his children may attend college and expand their education. We may not understand the good that develops from hardships at the moment, but later in life we will see the significance they hold. These events shape us into the people we are suppose to
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
It is true that obstacles in life are uncomfortable and unsupportable experiences, but if we would learn to look at the bright sides of problems, keep seeking opportunities, manage situations and learn from failures then the difficulties that we face in our life would turn out for the better not only in the present but also in the
Adversity can wreck your life. Adversity can lay you so low that you never recover. But if you stand up to adversity, it can also make you stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. No matter what your background, no matter what your family life is like, and no matter what obstacles are thrown your way, if you have someone who loves you and looks out for you and if you have a
I have felt the pain of the loss of a Sister; have felt the pain of the death of my Mother, and felt the death of my Father. I know how it feels. I experienced it. It is painful, looking at those old kind folks who bore you; who took care of you; went through all kinds of sacrifices and pains just to look after you for years and years, until one day the child stood on one’s own two feet, and then … there they are, the parents, helpless and lifeless in front of you.
Hardship, according to Ggoogle, means a severe or suffering situation. If you look at the book Number The Stars, a historical drama by Lois Lowry’s, this hardship is the Holocaust. This book is based on a ten-year-old girl named Annemarie who lives in Copenhagen. Annemarie and her family members have to help their friends, Ellen and her parents. They must help them escape the Nazis who want to take the Rosens because they are Jewish. Lois Lowry portrayed that Annemarie wascould be seen as loyal, loving, and brave, which she useds to stay together with friends and family which can bring courage, and with courage one can dominate fear, and with subdued fear one can overcome hardship.
Although adversity create a disadvantage in most people's lives, it builds character and makes an individual stronger. For instance, William Ellery Channing states, “Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict” (Steen “Struggle”). In other words, mental, social, emotional, racial, religious/spiritual, and family adversity are examples of hardships throughout the literary devices such as The Scarlet Letter, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, and Othello.
In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what and how we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity, it has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. Whether it is dealing with the ups and downs of hockey or balancing the pressure that comes with an elite hockey schedule and high school, there are always obstacles. Some of these challenges can bring about positive effects that influence the path of one’s life. In one such experience of mine, the amount of adversity was not near as great as the positive out come that came from my experience.
I had to learn to adjust life without my sibling because my mom did not have enough money for them to be with us and adapt to a new culture. During this my mother and I ended up homeless during the winter months, this was the most brutal and embarrassing time of our life. In my teenage life I have overcome many obstacles; Even though we were living in poverty my mother had high expectation for her children and graduating from high school was just the beginning unfortunately I stumble again, I failed my Math Regent and did not graduate but I was determined not to be discouraged .
Everyone has difficult obstacles in their lives. I have had a few myself and they each have changed me for the better. My most profound experience was being repeatedly molested as a child. I wasn't aware of exactly what was happening to me. I didn't know being touched was wrong. I just knew how disgusting it made me feel, but I didn't tell anyone at the time. I shared this publicly as an adult to help other parents realize that children need to be protected. It was a long journey to reach to the point where I could speak about my experiences with anyone. These experiences from my childhood affected me deeply; however, I have overcome them, learned from them and I have contributed at a higher level because of them.
It has been said that the loss of a parent is one of life's most traumatic events. I now know the devastating truth of that statement. I've been told that, in time, the hurt will fade, only to be replaced by positive memories that soothe the soul. Already, I can feel that happening.
Hardship is part of everyone's life, people just go through it differently. Hardship is something that causes suffering or deprivation. Some synonyms are adversity, asperity, hardness, difficulty, and rigor. Some near antonyms are advantage, break, and opportunity. Hardship a good thing, but it can also be your enemy if you allow it. The taliban shot Malala Yousafzai in the head for daring to to speak up for girls’ education in pakistan. She is alive and speaking today because she persevered. Temple Grandin was bullied for her autism all her life. People never believed in her, but she made a humane curved cattle chute that 35% of cattle in america are handled in. Hannelore Wolff endured the horrors of 8 labor and concentration camps. She was assaulted and abused. But she survived and wrote a book on how she pushed through all the hardship in the camps. Hannelore, Malala, and Temple have all had to go through hardship to get where they are now.
Throughout the entirety of my life I always have and always will face obstacles: I am a girl, I am African-American, I have a disabled brother, I have a single parent. Though these aspects of my life have created challenges, I am proud of who I am and I love my life. These challenges have molded my character and shaped me to be the person I am today and without these obstacles, I might not have been as driven to succeed, despite what has happened in my life that may have caused me to
In life we all face obstacles. The troubles that we face don’t define us, how we overcome the situation is what makes us the people we are today. Throughout my life I have faced many trials and tribulations that I had to overcome with the help of my mother, ofcourse. I was smooth sailing in life until I started high school.
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
I lost my mother at a young age, when I was 10--old enough to have memories to remember her and miss her, but too young to have a clear idea of who she was. Her absence completely disrupted our family. Waking up and having breakfast made, clothes ironed and washed, and all of the little things that we took for granted were gone in an instant. But this isn 't the story of how I lost my mother or about how I was devastated by her death. My mother’s death was the reason why I became exposed to the business world, and this story is really about how I came to share my father’s love and passion for business.
