“American Dream” I am a nineteen-year-old, Latina girl, trying to achieve the “American Dream”. My mother brought me to this land to offer me the opportunity for a better future. My mother believes a person can be anything she wants to be in America. Most people feel that America is the land of opportunity. Because of these opportunities, America gives people a chance to turn their dreams into reality. I knew my American dream since I young. I was brought to the land of opportunities at the age of 12. I am the first person of my family to attend to college. Being the first person, I know all the eyes are on me. It points out the rights of all citizens in the United States. The “American Dream” is an ideology is a set of norms and values that rationalizes the existing social structure. These ideas have attracted hundreds of people from foreign coasts to America, the land of opportunity, and a place where dreams can be achieved. The main concept of the American dream is built upon the idea that whatever you dream can be made to happen. The name, the American Dream, is misleading; it implies that there is one dream for all when, in fact, the American Dream is personal. It has different meaning to different people, but it is always inspirational for everyone. It is the dream of all citizens; for old and new citizens.
