My life changed at the beginning of the new school year in 2005. While to many of my peers it was like hell returning to our dungeon of a school with its heavy fireproof doors and tall staircases it was about to change for me. This was the year I met Mr. Safford, he was my new teacher and he was my hero, a very tall black man with broad shoulders, with very large hands and dark brown hair… Before this first day arrived I was very depressed. Life had lost all meaning to me and there was nothing I could do about it, or so I was told. You see, I lived with foster parents, white foster parents and I had since I was three. I didn’t know much about my birth parents let alone my last name, except that my mother died in a car accident and my father couldn’t support me anymore. As for my foster parents, they utterly disgust me not only how they treated me but also all the other black kids in the street. You could confidently say that when their time is up in this world they will definitely not be going to heaven, but to hell where they will rot. They deserve no better. For me everything was about to change because I had Mr. Safford. He was the one who taught me, well, everything. He was the one who told me to not hate others for what they do but to forgive and to not accept how I have been treated. As time went on Mr. Safford and I became closer and developed a very good friendship. What most people didn’t know was that deep down he was a very gentle person and didn’t let his emotions hide away in the catacombs of his mind; instead he would reach deep down and bring them out. Sometimes he would even tell me about his little girl that he lost how much he missed her and how pretty she was. It made me ponder if my father missed me and w... ... middle of paper ... ...‘isn’t worth it’.” “The boy last night who attacked you lunged at me and stabbed me. I took the knife from him and with anger overwhelming me I killed him and I’m going to jail for murder,” Anguish was evident in his sad eyes. “Sonya I’m sorry,” he murmured. I was lost. The only person I had loved was about to leave me. “But what am I going to do?” The words struggled to leave my lips. A police man walked into the room. “Sonya, there isn’t much more I can do except tell you that the pain will go away because, in three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about my life: it goes on.” The words just got out, and then the police man led my father out. That was the last time I ever saw my father. I was told he got killed in jail but to this day I still have fond memories of my father. Even though he left me, my father was my hero. He gave me my life back.
“Sit down” the cop said to my father, as my father sat down on the curb of the street. People surrounding the seen trying to figure out ( why?, who?, when?). I told myself this wasn’t happening that this was all dream, when i walked out to see my dad in handcuffs. I was really worried on what was about to happen but, more so my mom she was tearing
Family, defined by the Online Merriam Webster Dictionary is, “a group of related people including people who lived in the past.” I believed that the wording of this definition is important because of the word related. The Online Merriam Webster Dictionary defines related as “belonging to the same group because of shared characteristics, qualities, etc.” This goes to show that a family does not have to be lineage, heritage, or chromosomes. There are many different types of families, and though many people think of a nuclear family when they think of a family, there are so many more qualities to consider when deciding how to personally define family.
“It’s okay, Detective, it was a rhetorical question. I- I already know I’m dangerous too. I can destroy things with a touch — look at the door if you don’t believe me. And you saw what I did to Sheriff Higgins-” Her voice cracked causing her to clear her throat in hopes of covering up the swelling emotion. Her nose felt stuffy and her bottom lip quivered, but she refused to shed another tear feeling sorry for herself.
showed itself at moments, and I always was deeply upset knowing, his father could never do
The person who I think is heroic, would be my dad. He is the one who has been there since day one. If I needed anything he will drop what he is doing and come help me. He teaches me lessons that help me in my life. If it wasn’t for my dad I wouldn’t be who I am today. I have learned responsibility and the value of a dollar. My dad would give me the shirt off his back or his last dollar. A hero is someone who takes chances or sacrifices something of someone they cherish dearly. My dad would risk his own life for me and my siblings. He talks me through things that keep me down, he brings me back up. A hero is also someone who can be a friend and is there for you no matter what in life. My dad isn’t just my father or guardian he’s my best friend and my hero.
My father was always there for me, whether I wanted him to be or not. Most of the time, as an adolescent trying to claim my independence, I saw this as a problem. Looking back I now realize it was a problem every child needs, having a loving father. As hard as I tried to fight it, my dad instilled in me the good values and work ethic to be an honest and responsible member of society. He taught me how to be a good husband. He taught me how to be a good father. He taught me how to be a man. It has been 18 years since my father’s death, and I am still learning from the memories I have of him.
One person that I care for very deeply is my dad. He is The reasons he means so much to me is because he helps me whenever I need help, plays sports with me, and he is just like one of my friends.
The denotation of the word hero is "a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities". To some, that person may be George Washington, Batman, or even Peter Griffin. My hero, though, is my grandfather, D.S. Patel. My grandfather, from my mother's side of the family, is a wise, nice, caring sixty-year old man. Vocationally, he works as a civil engineer for the state of Indiana. How can a sixty-year old civil engineer be a hero? Let's find out how strangers see him as a hero, and how I see him as a hero.
In 1859 Henry Ward Beecher said, "the mother’s heart is the child’s schoolroom." I believe that statement because of experiences I’ve had with my own mother. I have learned more about life from her than from my 15 years of schooling. Over the last 20 years my mother has taught me many valuable lessons just by being a living example of compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity. She is an angel that has protected and carried me throughout life.
Bonnie the secretary introduced me to my new teacher. As Mrs. Bonnie was leaving the room, my new teacher Mrs. Evaheart introduced me to the class. As I stared at the class I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I wanted to go back to my old school where I had friends, knew almost everyone, a place where I didn’t feel lonesome, a place anywhere but here. As I saw each and every one of my new classmates faces the utter dread that I felt slowly began to fade as I saw a familiar face. Seeing one of my former friends give me a renewed hope that maybe being in this school won’t be so bad after
Have you ever been influenced by some important person that helped you be the person that you are today? I have been. The people that have had influence on me are the most important humans beings, my family. But before I begin talking about my family, I want to describe to you the place that we spend most of the time together which also means something important to me and my family. This place is called the family room. This room is small but cozy. It is painted in white and has three windows decorated with beautiful curtains. By the windows you can appreciate a nice view of some beautiful trees and a nice pool. On the walls there are some family photos like the ones that show where my brothers and I were born, my graduation photo, some family members photos like my grandparents, and some paintings made by one of my brothers. Also inside this room there is a nice home theater that includes a nice stereo and TV, and a new compact computer. But this is not all, this room has some very comfortable furniture and I can say that they are comfortable because I use them to watch TV, a movie, or just sit and rest. Also the furniture is used by my brothers to sit and play nitendo, to study, or play with the computer. But from all this furniture there is one chair that is the most cozy chair that I have ever sat upon and that is my father's chair. So this is our room, which is very important to us and has a lot of special things, but the most special part of this room is when it brings my family together.
This event greatly affected me, both emotionally and physically. My dad was in the hospital in a lot of pain because he shattered the two most painful bones to break and I could not go see him because of my work schedule and because I had to watch my sister. Finally, after four long days I saw him. Even though he is my dad, I must say he was a mess. He could not move at all, and when he tried to he was in a lot of pain.
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
My grandfather was a very loving man, he loved his family more than anything he had
My hero is my dad. He is my superman. He is my leader. My dad is a dad who motivates me and keeps me going, even when I want to give up. He is there for me when I don’t want to try anymore and he always keeps me going. Of all the heroes in the world, my dad is at the top of the list.
