Family, Endurance and the Power of Perseverance

Family Experience
My family had emphasized hard work and determination. I learned this from running. I used to be a slow runner. I remember being a slow runner had kept me from competing with in sports with others. I would get tired very easily. I lacked the endurance to win games. I decided that I would practice running for an extended period of time. First it became ten minutes of running and then it became twenty minutes. I kept running and as I kept doing that I noticed that my endurance was increasing. I was able to play an hour and a half without tiring out. This experience with sports had taught me not to give up and quit. It is a philosophy that I carry with me everywhere and it important to me. I loved it in school. I would always read history books for fun. I memorized state capitals for fun. I always was a student that would get As in history. I loved doing assignments for history. To me, they were not assignments but where opportunities. They were something I loved doing as I loved both the fun of doing it and the learning experience. History was one thing that helped me understand the world. I was a good student and was able to do many subjects. I was a good English student and that helped me to write history papers. My words were very eloquent but succinct. I was able to get the point across. Schools seemed easy to me as long as I did the work but, history was the subject where I was able to pay attention to. I never skipped a history class and I always something to contribute to the class. I had felt however lost when I picked Computer Science as my major. The classes were too difficult for me and I had to change my major to History. I learned to pick what major interests you. I have had a much easier time with my classes. The classes I am in seem to make the career that I am going to pick has to interest me. I need something that will make me happy. If I were to pick something I have to be happy to enter the job and happy when I leave. My college experience has also told me that it is better to happy than to be miserable. Many people had told me that you cannot find a job with a history degree but I would rather study history because I have a legitimate interest in
