Even though she expresses her expectations through examples and visuals, the objectives are almost always just orally explained to the students. When my cooperating teacher is beginning to teach she will normally state the objective very informally to the students. An example of how she does this is by saying “today we are going to learn how to correctly write the numbers seven and eight.” The students at least get an understanding for what they are going to be learning for the day. However, I think it would help if she displayed it visually somehow for the students who are English Language Learners. My teacher has many effective ways to communicate with her students, even with all of the barriers she has to overcome to reach every student.
