Throughout my high school career, my main focus was maintaining a high grade point average in rigorous college level classes. I dedicated several hours each day to every course that I took to ensure that I was comfortable with the material I learned. As Vince Lombardi Jr. once said, every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it, and we all should autograph our work with excellence. I consider that having a positive attitude and working hard is essential to be successful. Although I spent most of my time studying, I was able to get involved in any extracurricular activities such as the Brown Book Club as well as compete in the National Book Club Competition among other high schools all across Broward County.
In order to succeed as a college student, I must find balance between my classes and the student organizations that I wish to become a part of. During my first week of classes at the University of Central Florida (UCF), I was able to attend a workshop hosted by the Student Academic Resource Center which focused on time management. As a new transfer student from Broward Col...

The University Of Central Florida Essay

- When applying to the University of Central Florida, applicants were given the opportunity to prove to the reader that they are a respectable, independent, and well rounded student in around 500 words or less. Which, because there is so much to talk about yet we are restricted by the limited word count, can be a strain for some students. I was determined to make the most out of my opportunity, and deliver the best essay to the University. Out of the topics listed I choose the two that were easiest for me to elaborate on, and those were to “Describe a life changing event that had an effect on your life” and “Why would you like to become a UCF knight?” I decided to talk about a life-changing in...   [tags: Essay, Writing, Essays, Short story]

My Experience At The Dentist 's Office Essay

- Growing up I heard many stories from my peers of their experiences at the dentist’s office. It is upsetting to say that most of my visits were vividly terrifying. As a child, the grinding, scratching, and high-pitched twangs of the instruments digging around in my mouth would leave my ears ringing and teeth vibrating every single time. The smell of fluoride and disinfectants permanently infected the air, sending chills through my body the minute I walked in. I quickly learned that latex posses an extremely unappetizing aftertaste....   [tags: Dentistry, Dental assistant, Orthodontics]

When I was young, every essay, story, and report I had to write I considered a chore, and for my career, I wanted to do something fun, like swim with dolphins for a living. Not that that would not have been possible if I put my mind to it, but it was not until I was able to begin using my writing skills with something else I loved that I actually fell in love with the art of writing...   [tags: High school, Middle school, Agriculture, College]

Essay on Personal Statement

- I learned from the high school class I taught that two people can be looking at the same thing but each see something very different. The teacher (me) was white, privileged, and coddled throughout my suburban childhood and adolescence. Most students in my class were black or brown, poor, and grew up mostly on their own, living on the unforgiving urban street. They opened my eyes (often against my will and certainly against my “druthers”) to their alternative society. I learned that this hidden society exists unseen and mostly ignored within the larger normal American society of laws, schools, careers, and families; it comes to the attention of general society’s gatekeepers only at points of...   [tags: Personal Experience, Autobiography]
