In a world full of responsibilities, I try my hardest to keep up. I am constantly swept with duties whether it is from work, school, or home. When it comes to personal responsibilities, I have little difficulty fulfilling those duties. The only time I show slack is at home with homework. While in most cases I am able to meet my academic needs, I sometimes take the lazy route and ignore my assignments until the last second. Due to my prolonged habit of laziness, my education and mood are constantly stressed and challenged at home. Outside of my home, I am active and productive, but inside my house is when my laziness takes over. When I am not home, I am exercising, working, running errands for parents, or being social. These activities keep …show more content…
Laying around during my free time, instead of working on my homework, always sets me up for failure. I often find myself waiting until the last second to complete my assignments, sometimes however, I find myself not doing some assignments at all. This impacts my grades because they often drop until I finish my assignments. My grades dropping make me look bad to my parents and cause tremendous stress to myself. My lazy attitude towards homework causes me to wait until the last second to complete it. Having a short amount of time to complete my work causes me to rush and easily get frustrated. When I am frustrated, I cannot learn properly, and being unable to learn the information on my homework can cause bad scores on my test which effect my grades even more. If I had just worked on my assignments before they were due then I could avoid all the problems that my laziness caused. Every thing has a due date, and unlike Price Prospero, I know that you cannot avoid things that you do not like …show more content…
Both Prospero and I believe we can just have fun and ignore our responsibilities. Prospero’s people were dying because of the red death, and instead of helping them, Prospero decided to lock himself inside his castle with his closest friends to party everyday. I find myself also choosing the lazy and fun filled path instead of tending to my responsibilities. My free time could be spent doing homework to improve my education and grades, but instead I choose to play Xbox with my friends until it is late at night. When faced with the things we were trying to avoid, Prospero and I both over share a sense of over reaction in response. When Prospero was first confronted with the red death, he ordered his men to seize death and hang him. When none of his followers would listen to him, he then charged onto death with a blade himself, which ended with Prospero on the floor lifeless. I also over react in the sense that I get easily frustrated with my homework. Waiting until late at night to complete my assignments causes less sleep time for me. If I had more time to complete it then I would not feel as rushed because rushing through an assignment causes tremendous stress, and the stress results in me having a bad mood the next morning from the lack of sleep. No matter what assignment I am stressing over, the problem always originates from the
One reason why it's important to avoid laziness is because it can affect your grades. As a senior you will get to the point where you could care less
Although I started off strong determined to finish my assignments and in hopes of obtaining superb grades, my determination grew weak I when I was nearly or halfway done. I would just slack off until the assignment was nearly due, then I would rush to finish it. On the second essay that I was assigned, I started off strong, but halfway through I just didn’t give it my all. I did so because I believed that I would pass even if I didn’t try my hardest. My lack of motivation, as well as many other reasons, caused me to fail that essay. My determination helped me to achieve much in this class, but because I didn’t have enough of it I got lazy and it held me back from my full
Some researchers say students that have too much homework do not have a healthy life balance.
Be a perfectionist just because you procrastinated to do homework assignments doesn’t mean you have to do sloppy work. After all it’s a MAJOR grade.
If I continue to follow each step for the remaining weeks for the semester, my habit of procrastination will no longer exist when it comes to doing my school work. I will know how to approach my school work with no distraction and I will know how to get my assignments turned in on time. My plans for me to be successful will come from my work ethic of studying more and doing extra activities less. Understanding my assignments and prioritizing better will cause me to start on my work when assigned to me.
Like everyone, I have weaknesses and strengths that relate to school. I am proficient in remembering things such as formulas, or definitions which I believe are the reason I take an understanding to math. I most unquestionably need to improve my habit of procrastinating I'm aware that this is the MAIN reason i haven't been doing the best I could have throughout my high school years thus far. I'm not stupid, I started my freshman year as a full ib myp student and had I not been lazy I would've accomplished way bigger, better than things by now rather than having to quit a sport due to my grades or having to attend summer school every summer for the last two years.
Your schedule will be as open as a barren desert. You will relieve all your stress by procrastinating. You don’t have to worry about the assignment until the day l before it is due, and this is a good thing. as you can zone out and focus on the activity at hand whether that’s browsing online, watching a movie, or hanging out with friends. The assignments will begin to haunt you at first; this will be a challenge that everyone faces, yet you need to realize that paper isn’t going to write itself, and neither are you; at least, not yet. That paper has a long life ahead of it before it needs to get turned in, why make it suffer? Speedily add to it the day before to ensure that no pain goes to the paper. In class, you don’t have to listen, but rather just act like you doing work. You can just look at the notes, that the teacher wrote when you get home. If you forget, it isn’t the end of the world you still have a day to study; the test is tomorrow. Procrastination is the gift that keeps giving. The more you procrastinate, the easier it will get, the more your grades will increase, and the more you’ll have fun. Yet, don’t get too carried away. You must procrastinate but still must complete your assignments. School is important, yet your activities outweigh the need for completion of assignments, so they can wait. What you need and want should come
In my experience it may seem that no matter how hard I may try to balance school, work, and family something always suffers. I simply try to remind myself that if I work hard and try to maximize my time that I should be able to accomplish all I need to do. Even if I am not successful in doing so at least I know that I tried my best to balance everything thing out. In my opinion people need to give one hundred percent of effort or else they will not be
“The typical student, even in high school does not spend more than an hour per day on homework” (Loveless NP). However, there is an ongoing dispute between critics on whether a lot of homework has more negative effects than positive effects, and vice versa. Homework is the greatest tool for student success, whether they realize it or not, homework is the key to success, it may not be to fun, but it has many positive effects. Homework improves academic success, it develops non-school skills, and it helps involve parents.
Not rewarding myself after spending numerous hours on a hard assignment made me feel unpleased after finishing all my work. Rewards may not necessarily be expensive gifts or trip to Europe, but it’s always important to satisfy yourself as an incentive to get something done with. After completing all my work, I usually never had time to reward myself by going the Cinema or going out for dinner with friends. By the time I finished all my work, it would be too late to do anything. I would sometimes feel guilty if I rewarded myself as I believed that even if I was done with my assignments, that I should still sit down and study for any future tests. Looking at other engineers around me who were working all day, made me doubtful about rewarding myself. Another reason why I sometimes couldn’t reward myself, is that I sometimes wanted to save money that I could use to spend on something more valuable. Consequently, I ended up asking myself why am I working and that there was no point in working hard. Not only was I not rewarding myself by having fun, but I felt like I was not getting rewarded academically. After spending a whole night on an assignment, I would get back a poor mark on it. This made me feel miserable. I felt like there was no need to work hard and that I could just do whatever I want and then work whenever I feel like it. Do I really want to spend hours on schoolwork and get nothing worth the effort I
I find myself rushing at the last minute to complete my assignments and do my homework without being ready to do them physically and morally. I also find my self forgetting what I have to do , missing deadlines, putting some unrealistic goals, worrying about an exam if I don’t prepare for it. I often waste my energy on less important tasks; consequently, I fail to complete successfully the more important ones. I sleep very late then I don’t have enough hours to sleep ,so I cant wake up freshly ,therefore I come not following normally my courses, concentrating ,and focusing on my works. I am easily distracted by my gadgets and other external tendencies.
Do you ever wonder why you choose not to do something until the last minute? Sure you have! It has happened to everyone. I mostly believe that there are negative attributes to procrastination, more so than good attributes. Traits of adjourning include how rewarding a task may seem, affecting how hard a person will work on it, and laziness. Some may see procrastination as healthy, such as active procrastination. Although good effects appear from procrastinating, stress is a larger effect. Stress causes a few illnesses. Procrastination is a bad thing that generally occurs in everyone when short-term benefits are the only outcome people see.
When it comes to our personal and professional lives, Managing your time efficiently should be a mastered ability. As a student, this could have a huge effect on performance and grades. Seeing that Time Management is imperative when it comes to college and success, recognizing bad habits, should be one of the first obstructions immediately eliminated from your daily schedule. Create new habits if you tend to procrastinate and start planning ahead to manage your most important priorities. According to David Allen (2001),"Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" (p.59) "changes in the way you clarify and organize all things that command your attention-could represent a significant shift in how you approach some key aspects of your day to day work." Setting up deadlines and completing your assignments a few days before the due date will eliminate the procrastination stage. Creating a list with the most important priorities first, will help sort out your assignments and eliminate stress and feeling overwhelmed.
The definition of procrastination is: the action of delaying or postponing something. Tim Urban, who conducts a speech called Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator for TED in 2016, explains that every human is a procrastinator- some more than others. I agree with everything he says in his speech because I can connect with every piece of evidence he claims, mostly including that there is a “Panic Monster” that pops up in your brain when you are close to a deadline and haven’t gotten anything done, especially when it comes from why I’m always so stressed out about school. There are two different kinds of procrastination: deadline and non-deadline. (Urban, 2016) Everyone that I have ever met is a procrastinator
