If you have already received your bachelor 's degree, please describe what you have been doing since graduation, and your plans for the upcoming year. This space is limited to 700 characters.
I am using this time to become more resolute and steadfast in my career goals. To this effect, I hope to improve my credentials by pursuing opportunities for personal growth, improving financial stability, and gaining real-life experience. Since graduating, I have traveled, as well as acted as a live-in caretaker for my terminally ill grandfather. Currently, I am seeking employment in clinical, behavioral, and public health sectors and hope to find a position that combines my passions for medicine and community service.

If you interrupted your college education for a semester or longer, please describe what you did during that time. This space is limited to 700 characters.
I took a semester off in the spring of 2012 to better manage my health. I experienced a severe flare-up of my JRA throughout the previous semester and struggled to keep the disease at bay. During my hiatus, I worked with my rheumatologist to form a new treatment plan. He recommended surgery for my elbow to remove the damaged synovial fluid and, hopefully, reclaim function. Ultimately, I underwent a synovectomy and spent the majority of my time off recovering from surgery and attending physical therapy. I returned to school healthier and more resolute in my studies.

...ed in Meeting for Worship. Fortunately, these schools emphasized tolerance and diversity; students of other religions were not only accepted, but welcomed.
Quaker education and its corresponding values have taught me an appreciation for others and their beliefs. This upbringing has instilled in me traits that mirror those of a good physician. Physicians must see their patients as individuals with their own religious, political, and socioeconomic context. They must be able to provide care in accordance with the patient 's beliefs, values and preferences, regardless of the physician 's personal views. I hope to come to John Hopkins offering my own point of view and, moreover, an acceptance of alternative views. I believe that I can not only contribute to the diversity of the program, but also interact with peers and patients alike through compassion and mutual respect.
