Murderous Malicious Mayhem

When we think of villains, we tend to characterise them as people who are frequently committing unmoral acts in order to gain something for themselves. Hamlet’s Claudius, who is willing to murder again in again in order to gain and maintain his position of power as the king, is a character like this for which we grow a certain hatred. Even if Claudius is a character to be feared, he is driven by motives and is therefore less frightening due to his predictability. Iago on the other hand is a similar villain, but has no motives at all for his actions. Iago does not hurt others for his own gains; He simply revels in causing pain and suffering to others. He seizes every opportunity he can to cause others pain, does not care that it will most likely result in his death, and refuses to give any reasons why he does.

Iago will never miss a chance to make someone suffer, even if it is in the smallest way. He is so cunning and good at improvising that he can use almost anything that happens to make it look like something else in order to cause havoc. He us...
