It is a well known fact that obesity is a leading cause of many diseases worldwide. Maintaing a healthy lifestyle can not only prevent obesity, thus avoiding these diseases - it can also cause disease to regress if stored adipose tissue is lost. Evidence supports that the physical act of exercise has a positive effect on our metal and physical well being through many different pathways and some are more clear than others. However, decreasing the world’s population of obese individuals would in turn lessen the number of people suffering from a plethora of preventable diseases and ailments. We just have to remember that if we burn what we eat we are on the pathway to a long and healthy life.
Being obese seems to be a growing epidemic in the United States. It is not, just a problem with appearance and social life. Each person is accountable for its own health, control its own eating habits and the time devoted to exercising. Can we all be responsible to the decisions of a group of people? The answer, that shared by several is probably not. Nevertheless, in the last few years, this medical condition that increases the likelihood of a range of diseases in which excess body fat has accumulated to the point that it may have an unfavorable effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and increase health problems (Wikipedia, par.2). Obesity-related diseases are common these days, for each person there are significant risks of exceeding their own limits. It is difficult knowing that there is a person that can endanger their health, but continue with the same bad habits that can cause permanent damage. Obesity is becoming a problem that slowly gets out of hand, but little is being done to counter its growth. Obesity is reaching epidemic proportions. Also, their symptoms are complex and specific to each person. Finally, society should not accept obesity as a disability. Therefore, obesity it is a growing food dependency problem that must be prevents and fights rather than consider a life style.
About 2.8 billion adults every year die of obesity (Diet). Rachel Epstein wrote the book “Eating Habits and Disorders” which talks about obesity being a disease. Obesity is a condition with extra body fat which often starts to form in childhood (Epstein 25). While obesity for some adults can be life-threatening (Epstein 25). It can also form psychosocial problems (Epstein 25). Being obese causes a risk in diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney trouble and more (Epstein 25). Being obese during pregnancy can cause many problems for the mom, and for the baby (Epstein 25). Any of these things could cause many problems either in the future, or in the present (Epstein 25). The worse the eating habits, the harder it is to cure (Epstein 25). The government needs to do more about obesity because obesity rates are rising, many kids are being victims of obesity and they don’t even know it, also Medical Care is taking a big part with the growing obesity rates.
Exercising regularly can help prevent excess weight gain or help maintain weight loss. You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise, doing small actives such as walking somewhere sort distance instead of taking the car or even do some exercises whilst watching T.V. Exercising boost energy, reduces stress, helps you sleep better and lifts our mood. It’s important to eat regular to ensure that your body gets the required amount of energy to move. Skipping a meal doesn’t help loss weight, it means that you will be more likely to eat more during the next meal.
This paper will be talking about the three main parts of avoiding obesity. According to Taylor, Parento, & Schmidt (2015) obesity is putting people around the world in higher risks of getting “health problems” such as diseases (p. 258). Having a proper nutrition can help a lot when trying to avoid or get rid of obesity. Eating fruits and vegetables with vitamins and fibers help out with someone’s body system which is opposite of consuming fats and sugars which usually just stay in the body. The only possible way to get rid of fat is by doing physical activity because it helps burn all the calories inside the human body. Ferkel, Judge, Stodden, & Griffin (2014) recommend a child that does physical activity to transition into adult hood to keep
One of the main benefits of exercise is that it helps with weight control. “To reap the benefits of exercise, just get more active throughout your day — take the stairs instead of the elevator or rev up your household chores. Consistency is key” (http://www.mayoclinic.org). Just like changing to a vegetarian/vegan diet, exercise can also lower the effects of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and even cancers. “Heart disease and stroke are two of the leading causes of death in the United States. But following the Guidelines and getting at least 150 minutes a week (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity can put you at a lower risk for these diseases” (https://www.cdc.gov). Type 2 diabetes can be prevented because it can lower the high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high blood sugar. Exercise can also help to reduce breast and colon cancer as research has shown. In comparison to a vegan/vegetarian diet, exercise can also help to strengthen you bones and muscles. Exercise can also help lower the loss of bone density that comes with age. Lastly, exercise helps to better your mental health. Research has shown that exercise can help with mild depression and stress. Exercise “promotes all kinds of changes in the brain, including neural growth, reduced inflammation, and new activity patterns that promote feelings of calm and well-being. It also releases endorphins,
Exercise can have many effects on the body. A lack of exercise can create several significant health problems, while an abundancy of exercise can ultimately lead to a healthy body. Exercise comes in many different forms that you can choose from. You can walk for about an hour and lose a portion of calories or you can run a couple miles and lose even more calories. If you watch television, you have likely saw one of those exercise commercials with exercise equipment like treadmills, elliptical trainers, and stationary bicycles that you can use. Or instead of using those methods, you can be active in fun ways like playing a sport such as basketball or baseball as well as dancing which all count as exercise. Studies have shown that just by being
It was my decision to discuss the various benefits of exercising because I believe that exercising has a huge difference on my quality of life. Regularly exercising boosts my energy levels and strengthens the cardiovascular system allowing me to live a more positive and productive lifestyle. The rates of obesity and overweight have drastically increased in America due to the lack of physical activity performed, thereby severely increasing unhealthy weight gain. People who are obese or overweight have also been observed to show signs of insomnia, anxiety, and depression. All of these health problems can be avoided by maintaining a physically active daily routine.
Exercise can benefit an individual in many ways. Through research I have found several articles which have been written throughout the years that address these benefits. Some of these benefits are to prevent diseases, to improve stamina, to strengthen and tone, to enhance flexibility, to control weight, and to improve quality of life. All of these benefits will be address throughout this paper. However, even though exercise does benefits an individual, it does also depends on their circumstances. For example, exercise can be done to help with a pregnancy and after a pregnancy, to control diabetes, and to help the brain function for achievement in school.
Any type of physical activity you choose to do--strenuous activities such as running or aerobic dancing or moderate-intensity activities such as walking or household work--will increase the number of calories your body uses. The key to successful weight control and improved overall health is making physical activity a part of your daily routine.
Aerobic exercise is a type of exercise that increases the heart rate and speeds up breathing for a continuous period. This sustained raise overloads the heart and lungs and causes them to work harder than at rest. Therefore, with weight loss aerobic activity is generally suggested far more than anaerobic activity. “Cardio-respiratory endurance, or aerobic, activities, such as walking, jogging, running, swimming, and bicycling, are the most useful for losing weight because they eventually burn more calories than do muscle-strengthening exercises, such as weight training or calisthenics” (Fine, & Kusinitz, 1995).
Being physical active can help strengthen bones and muscles, which can make everyday tasks easier to perform. As stated before water can help people lose weight, but another way people can lose weight is by exercising. Exercising helps people lose weight by helping them burn the right amount of calories daily. Exercising can also help people live longer, by helping the body protect itself from many diseases. Many people use Exercise as a form of meditation, because it can be very relaxing for people. I love going to the gym after a stressful week, because strangely enough after my workout I feel more peaceful and calm.
A combination of healthy eating and exercising play a significant role in controlling in an individuals own weight. When exercising, one is not only able to prevent excess weight gains, but also maintain weight loss. People tend to gain weight
Exercise will help to control your weight. It will also reduce the risk of cancer and diabetes. Experts recommends children and teens to get at least an hour of exercise everyday. Adults should exercise for two hours and thirty minutes weekly. Exercise does not only mean, go to the gym and work out on treadmills and such. Taking your dog for a walk, gardening, and everyday chores are considered exercise too. Daily exercise can relieve some stress because it can stimulate brain chemicals leaving you to feel more relaxed and happy. It can also boost up your self esteem and confidence because if you’re working out, your appearance would most likely improve. Another great reason for exercising is that it will boost your energy, and you will have more energy because of all the muscle you built up.
