I truly believe that motivators throughout time are the ones that have really impacted history. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you do not have the motivation to use that talent then your gift is useless. Motivation is defined as the reasons or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. The word originates from the Latin term motivus, which means a moving cause. A moving cause, suggests that you have to activate properties of the methods involved in mental motivation. Dr. Tom Horvath’s Stages of Change Model suggest six steps to acquiring motivation: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and termination. Everyone has different reasons to be motivated, but the key is finding something to keep you motivated. I have many goals for myself, and staying motivated takes self-discipline. Self-discipline is rooted in maturity and being self-aware. It takes many years for people achieve their goals, because motivation is interlaced with a complex system of checks and balances. Motivation is the main element towards success. Students, scientist, teachers and/ or any individual who wants to reach a goal needs to be motivated/ambitious. This motivation/ambition is what guides and keep people going. This ambition may be geared towards inventing/creating something, obtaining more money, and/or succeeding. The ambition people have are good, but sometimes lead to bad consequences. These consequences set the relationship between action and ambition. But, no matter what the goal is people with ambitions will not stop until their goal is met. Ambition towards obtaining something is what motivates people. For example Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a human being. As Mary Shelley writes in "Frankenstein", Victor Frankenstein wanted to be "the first to break through life and death ideal bonds"(231). His ambition was to create a human and to break these boundaries. But most importantly, he wanted to be recognized as the first individual to do this. This recognition would make him famous forever. The only thing he thought of was to break the boundaries of life and create a human creature.

It claims that praise might tell them that being smart and talent is the most important thing and it’s what makes you valuable. That’s when parents or teacher make mistakes they praise them wrong and all they just do is build up children’s ego. According to Greenberg (1999) motivation is defined "as a process of arousing, directing and maintaining behaviour towards a goal." Where directing' refers to the selection of a particular behaviour; and maintenance' refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met.
Goal setting is key in motivation; goals need to be clear, sharp, and realistic. To make these feel more achievable it is better to break these down into smaller medium-term goals and medium-term goals into short-term goals so that you have a clear connection between what one does every day and their long-term goals.
