Not only is the color red significant in representing love, but it is also a visual for the progress of Mrs. Chan 's feelings. Once Mrs. Chan finally decides to act on her feelings, the red curtains in the hallway are no longer motionless. The scene where Mrs. Chan just misses Mr. Chow 's departure, she sits alone crying in his room, and this shot immediately follows an image of the hallway with red curtains. It is once Mrs. Chan recognizes her feelings and expresses them freely, that the red curtains blow freely as well, in a very strong and exotic way. The way that the red curtains move in relation to the progress of feelings is no coincidence, and therefore concludes the importance of color regarding the concept of love in the film. As Mr. Chow describes in the film, "I understand now, feelings have a way of creeping up on you." The color portrays the reality of love, because similar to the curtains moving freely, love is uncontrollable and …show more content…
Chow and Mrs. Chan. Wong provides insights to the subtle things, that forward the relationship between Mr. Chow, and Ms. Chan broadening our understanding. The audience is able to understand Mr. Chow and Ms. Chan 's internal struggle, due to Wong 's consistency of filming areas that limit space. The limitation of space reflects Mr. Chow and Ms. Chan feelings as they feel they have no room for exploration. Furthermore, the directorial choice to implement particular colors with important emotional marks of the characters, enhances the beauty of how their emotions progress throughout the film. With minimal physical affection, and dialogue in the film, Wong 's strategy proves to be highly effective. Finally, Wong uses images that echo a common flashback, to establish the unrequited longing that takes place throughout the film, and the unrequited longing at the end where Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow are of nothing but a memory of each other. "In the mood for love" is a unique and beautiful film where a the love between character 's is heightened through microscopic elements instead of the physical

What was the narrative of the show, who were the characters, and director? Love Jones the Musical is a makeover of the movie Love Jones directed and written by Theodore Witcher. The film starred Larenz Tate - as Darius Lovehall, and Nia Long - as Nina Mosley. The musical produced by Melvin Childs is touring around the country. I was able to catch an evening show of the shows only two nights held at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn. The stars of the musical are Tony Grant - as Darius Lovehall, and Chrisette Michelle - as Nina Mosley. Singers Musiq Soulchild, MC Lyte, Marsha Ambrosius, Raheem Devaughn, and Dave Hollister played themselves. The musical like the movie takes place in Chicago. The plot was also similar to that of 1997 movie in which Darius a poet and Nina a photographer gets together and fall in love. Trials and tribulations test their relationship, but the couple proved that black love is strong by overcoming their obstacles in the end.
...d Russel Crowe, the couple get together and break up numerous times simply because of their mutual fear of intimacy and commitment. Another worthy example of this fear of engagement is the 1999 movie Love Stinks, starring French Stewart and Bill Bellamy. French Stewart's girlfriend demands that he marry her but he refuses to do so. This is obviously due to his definite fear of closeness and commitment. Another attribute of human nature, displayed in this story, is the tendency to be selfish. When people try to evade taxes, it is because they want all their money for themselves and thus are acting avaricious. Another example of this is when people do not donate to charity. This shows an abundance of stinginess as well as greed. Essentially, "Love in L.A." addresses two main inherent qualities of human beings, the want for love and the constant capacity to be selfish.
Many people never realize or take much notice on what deaf people go through in life, but by watching the movie "Love is Never Silent", hearing people are able to have a clear view of what it is like to be deaf in the hearing world. Many different perspectives towards how deaf people live, socialize, party or work are built by many distinctive types of people. As the movie "Love is Never Silent" shows, Margaret and her family are isolated from their community. They aren 't allowed to sign in front of the hearing because it 's strange and abnormal. Seeing a deaf person sign during a time where being different can make a person look like an outcast makes hearing people pity the deaf and end up treating them as ignorant people. Although deaf
The vibrant use of colors is meant to express the environmental conditions, as well as the character’s emotions. The main color during the whole film is red. The film uses red, yellow and orange to show me and keep reminding me about the heat. There is a scene in the film where three men sit against this bright red wall, and this shot isn 't just shown once in the film but multiple times. Even though the bright sun is never shown, I can tell how hot it is because of the colors. It also uses red to convey the character’s emotions such as anger, struggle, dissatisfaction, and frustration. For example, Jade’s apartment is red color to show Jade is a frustrated character in the film. It’s as though; colors were characters in the movie
Fear, more specifically the fear of rejection, is an emotional response that has affected many people at some point in their lifetime. Most individuals typically overcome such feelings with blind hope, while others seem to get lost in translation. Like mentioned before, most get over their anxiety, but what is it like for the people that can’t seem to shake of the frightening feeling of being rejected? The short film, “The Truth About Meeting Women”, written by Paul Gale and directed by T.J. Misny, takes the audience on a comedic journey through the mind of a shy man as tries to avoid talking to the beautiful women that surrounds him. Overall, this short film is truly masterpiece because of the relatable main character and the actually humorous storyline.
The initial interaction between Lucy and Cheng Huan at the store creates an interesting dynamic of uneven attraction. Objects and figures within the frame emphasizes this fact, such as an unconscious Lucy in the center. The organization of objects, and set-pieces in the shot is referred to as the setting. As an integral component in mise-en-scene, setting helps locate the actors and even control how the story is. The one-sided adoration prevalent in this scene exemplifies the possible alternative motivations behind Cheng’s kindness. In these shots, Lucy’s face always points towards the camera so that the audience can see both characters clearly, and while Lucy sleeps, Cheng stares at her with considerable intensity. By acknowledging his lust, many of his actions can be interpreted in a completely different way. At (46:22) Cheng ...
Cinematography during the opening scene of the film Punch-Drunk Love is a long shot framing of the main character Barry seated at his desk in a large open space, this emptiness presented an overwhelming personality of loneliness and exclusion in relation to Barry’s life. Following a telephone conversation, Barry sets off towards the off screen space and the camera follows panning left to right with an angled view. Ultimately, Barry is engulfed in a shadowy emptiness, this transfer in space also suggests elements of Barry’s life are lost in a mass of fruitlessness. On the other hand, there may be hope as Barry exits the black void, he is framed in a doorway of light to the outside world.
“He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not,” was a twisted film that shed light on some of the topics that we discussed this semester. Reality is defined as the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. Everyone has their own idea of reality and how they view life depends on this reality. We saw that Angelique’s perception of reality was very abstract, she took a simple act of kindness and twisted it into the start of a love affair. In her mind it was the beginning steps of her and Doctor Loic’s relationship.
The Love Economic Model, founded by Chau Vuong, is based on the assumption that people are able to weigh both the benefits and the costs of falling and being in love (Welch, 196) and relates to the couples in the video in many ways. Each couple demonstrated the benefits of love and also the costs of love. Jane was the best character who demonstrated the needs of the Love Economic Model by going to see her therapist and by weighing her list of reasons why her and her ex husband were having an affair, it was a great example of how this model can be used in real situations in
Romantic comedies typically revolve around two people who are falling in love. These two characters meet through a combination of circumstances and obstacles. At first these characters deny having any emotional feelings for each other. The reason for this denial is usually that one of the characters already has a partner or because of a social standard. Eventually, this problem is put aside, and the characters end up dating or, in some instances, getting married. Romantic comedies almost always have a happy ending for all the characters involved in the movie, book, or play (Berkowitz 867).
I must admit, I was surprised with Some Like It Hot, mainly of how much I actually laughed. This is a great film to watch with girlfriends that is one particular note. Directed by Billy Wilder and written by Wilder with collaborative writers. Monroe never fails to amuse me; you cannot take your eyes off the screen when she is present. The movies of men dressing as women are not that funny and always feels too forced or over the top. This one flows naturally.
Throughout Seeking Asian Female, Lum’s evident portrayal of Steven’s fetish and obsessive desires of Asian women augments to his deteriorating relationship with Sandy. Lum’s implementation of Steven’s weakness and obsession for Asian women throughout the film serves as an evoking factor for his declining relationship with her while the incorporation of his vile characteristics functions to depict the complexity and entanglement of their marriage. As his relationship with Sandy escalates, tensions between the two lovers intensify as Sandy discovers his engagement with another woman prior to his tangible confrontation with her. This aspect of the film contributes to the illustration of Steven’s flawed demeanor towards Sandy which eventually
Love is not simple or easy. The kind of love that will last over time and overcome each obstacle it brings is actually a fair amount of work. In the film Valentine’s Day there are all different kinds of love and some of them thrive while others fail by the end of the day. All these different relationships present an opportunity to analyze how different aspects of communication help people find love and make it last.
