The Modern Era of Technology
Our society has developed dramatically over the years. One factor that has changed our world in such a critical way is technology because, for the past decade, it has had a major positive impact in our lives. For example, Medical equipment and medicines have become more advanced in the 2000’s, improving the lives of sick and injured people. People are able to get back to their old lives because of new medical advancements looking into getting rid of life changing diseases and injuries. Another example is technology making jobs more efficient, and increasing the amount of employment for people in the past decade. People are able to work in safer environments due to new …show more content…

They also have better maneuverability to make the user feel like their limb was never even gone. Even people with paraplegia, for the first time “will be able to take home [a] exoskeleton technology, use it every day and maximize on the physiological and psychological benefits [that] have [been] observed in clinical trials” (Edney). This is medical breakthrough because if we can find the solution for paraplegics to walk, then imagine other solutions to such things like torn nerves. As well, technologies that are used for diagnostics such as X-rays and CAT scans are being enhanced to deliver better results. Technology has even helped “an international team of physicists [which] has developed new nan scale materials that could someday reduce the radiation dosages received by patients getting X-rayed, while improving the resolution of the resulting images” (Stark). This give surgeons the ability to give the best solution to different types of surgeries like spinal surgeries to help reduce postoperative pain and result in speeding recoveries for the patients. Lastly, new technology results in finding new medicines to benefit people’s lives by making them healthier. For example, there are new findings for future drugs to help treat neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Metformin, in this case, is a pill to help treat diabetes; however it …show more content…

Jobs, all over the world, are being changed by new technologies that are helping to increase productivity. For example, the mechanical arm is a great invention to increase efficiency to help build lots of cars in short periods of time in the assembly line. Using the Mechanical arm, also, makes it safer for the workers because they do not have to risk getting injured from carrying the heavy parts and welding them together. Especially, the entire automobile industry is dealing with an aging workforce and they need help fulfilling their tasks easier. The most important part is “keeping assembly-line workers healthy and accident-free [which] are paying off, with a 90% drop in injuries at Honda of America Mfg. over a 10-year period” (Shuldiner). Due to the mechanical arm innovation it increases the safety for the older workers, to keep auto businesses running strong and have no problems with employee accidents. As well, there are many jobs, where new technology is improving the world such as transatomic power, which is a new way to power energy and increase efficiency in nuclear power plants. There is a “new reactor design, which so far exists only on paper, produces 20 times as much power… that means relatively small, yet powerful, reactors could be built less expensively in factories and shipped by rail instead of being built on site like conventional ones.
