Step 1
Validity of Meyers-Briggs Type.
As I discussed this project with those around me, it became evident that many people have varied opinion on the Meyers-Briggs Type. And yet, in my first sentence I have identified particular characteristics of my personality type identified by the Meyers- Briggs Type test. Early on in the process, I shared this assignment with my co-workers and manager. My manager quickly identified that I was the type of person to talk through matters with others to gain greater understanding. Keep in mind that this conversation was had prior to completing the type test online. Even my Husband, who also took the test and aligned as suspected, was able to identify my type by using the brief 16 type chart on the back of our textbook, Type Talk at Work (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002). I would argue that this test continues to demonstrate itself as a valid personality test. Even after over 70 years, the truths revealed by understanding the results of this test rings true illuminating that while much has changed in the world, little has changed for the human personality.

...teammates. Voicing this concern to my manager, I was able to talk through my ideas and put together action plans. The training program I had devised would have been completed by the deadline but I feel strongly that without talking through my concerns the program would not have been as beneficial. Also during this process, my manager and I were able to discuss her personality type. She is more of an ISFJ or ISTJ type.
Understanding that we interact with our world and work differently allowed me to be more patient and effectively communicate better. While I need to talk things through with others, she often needs time to think about ideas before responding. By discussing these differences, I was able to come to here with my concerns in a list manner. She was afforded the time to think prior to responding but I still receive the feedback and confirmation I desired.
