The book Men are from Mars and women are from venus is about the martians (men) and the Venusians (women) that meet and fall in love with each other because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to earth and amnesia set in: they forgot they were from different planets. But the effects of the earth’s atmosphere took hold, and one morning everyone woke up with a peculiar of amnesia. Both the Martians and Venusians forgot that they were from different planets and were suppose to be different. And since that day men and women have been in conflict.
This makes the martians and the venusians are different like men and women are different. The martians expect the venusians to act like them, and the venusians expect the martians to feel and behave like the venusians. Men and women are so busy trying to understand their own gender that they don 't have the time to understand and respect the other gender.
On Venus, they are very interested in personal growth, spiritually and everything that can nurture life, healing and growth. Venusians are very intuitive, anticipate, offer help without being asked.
Because one’s competence is not as important to a woman, needing help is not a sign of weakness. A man sometimes feels offended because when a woman offers advice he doesn’t feel she trusts do it himself. But offering help to a

The martians and the venusians languages had the same words but the words had totally different mmeanings than the others. To fully express their feelings, women assume poetic license to use various superlatives, metaphors, and generalizations. The number 1 complaint women have in relationships is I don’t feel heard. Even this complaint is misunderstood by men.
One of the biggest challenges for men is correctly to interpret and support a woman when she is talking about her feelings. The biggest challenge for women is correctly to interpret and support a man when he isn’t talking. Silence is most easily misinterpreted by
That is the question of the century, and it frequently asked, especially by women in a relationship. Communication is key, but it is often a problem between couples. Men and women communicate in different ways, and there is constant misunderstanding during these variations of communication. Deborah Tannen really aids her audience in understanding these types of communication in her article, “Sex, Lies, and Conversation.” She has a PhD in linguistics, and is a professor of linguistics as well. She provides very useful information and even gives situations to relate to.

If man and the woman both had the same communication ways they would be more successful in marriage. Many of the communication issues are brought up in the article “Sex, Lies, and Conversation by Deborah Tannen.” Tannen states that men and women argue with one another over communication which leads to marital problems and divorce. Men and women have different viewpoints on communication. Women see bad communication as the one of the major reasons for divorce. Also the way men and women communicate are very different. Men are very different than women they do not like to communicate as much like women. Men don’t talk about their problems and women love to talk about them. Communication is seen as one major cause leading to a relationship failure. When couples get married the women is always looking for a good comuincator.
A men biggest weakness is expressing their emotions. They are taught from an early age to be fearless and powerful. They are informed that 'Big Boys Don 't Cry ' and to 'Man Up '. Men start to connect feelings and emotions with their weakness. They come to believe that they have failed if they become affectionate and were to open their hearts. As a result, many men try to be the warrior who saves the people around them and always puts on a bold face. Men are typically the provider of their household and tend to play the male role. “All men are the same”, is the most common phrase we all hear a lot nowadays, but some of us fail to realize that they are not. Carver argues that men are successful in relationship when they are unafraid to express emotion.
Women seemed to be more emotionally involved in a conversation than men. Men protected themselves from being pushed around or dominated by women. Tannen talked about the participatory listenership where women were able to complete the sentence of a conversational partner. Men interpreted this practice as an interruption, lack of attention, and intrusion. Tannen explained, “Men take too literally women’s ritual ‘trouble talk,’ just as women mistake men’s ritual challenges for real attack” (Tannen 409). There were reported emotional detachments when it came to men making decisions because they were more critical and factual in their
No matter what is meant, it’s the interpretation that counts. This goes back to men and women being different. Tannen tells a story about Amy and Donald. Amy, attempting to be kind, sugar coats the issue she is having with Donald. This issue goes right over Donald’s head and he gets upset that Amy didn’t simply tell him. The interpretation of the exact same conversation was utterly different (63-64). People tend to communicate in the way they understand communication. If he or she likes direct people, direct is the way he or she will likely handle a situation. A timid person may see this directness as
relationship problems between men and women because of the fundamental psychological differences between them. The author represents men and women from two different planets. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. This book also states the difference of values of men's and
In Tannen’s first section, status vs. support, Tannen states that women view talking as a way to receive support, whereas men are always trying to gain the upper hand while talking. Tannen and her husband had jobs in different cities. When people would comment on her situation Tannen would accept their support of her difficult situation. Her husband, on the other hand, would feel threatened and felt compelled to refuse their support and point out the good in the situation. Due to societal influences men are often expected to be tough and therefore they feel threatened more easily. Because they feel threatened more easily they tend to go on the offensive more during conversation. Women are expected to be more sensitive and therefore they seek support. The section entitled advice vs. understanding is very closely related to status vs. support. In this section a woman has a deformed breast, due to a previous bout with cancer, and expresses her distress to her husband. Her husband responds that she could have plastic surgery to correct the deformity. She became quite upset at the thought of another surgery. Because of t...
The Venus of Willendorf and the Venus de Milo are two ancient day venus sculptures representing two different views on beauty. The Venus of Willendorf is a small 4.5 inch limestone figure of a Goddess which is believed to be used as a fertility symbol, while the Venus de Milo is a tall ancient Greek statue of a Goddess which is said to represent love and beauty. The Venus of Willendorf’s body structure is very different than that of Venus de Milo. The venus of Willendorf appears to be a short lady with a large emphasis on her reproductive organs, breasts and stomach area whereas the Venus de Milo appears to be very tall with smaller breasts, and a really athletic build. She appears to have abs and looks as if she has not had children before, while the Venus of Willendorf looks like she has had children due to her huge breasts and stretched out belly button. The Venus
Communication between males and females has always been somewhat complicated. Because we are arguing that males and females have different cultures we wanted to take a look at what some of these differences might be. According to our research the inherent differences between male and female culture are the different roles that society holds for them and the ways these roles lead to different communication styles. The stereotypes that men and women grow up with affect the types of ways in which they communicate. We first wanted to take a look at how they specifically differ while men and women are arguing or having normal conversations. We also looked at the different types of networks that men and women share. These networks also differ and as do the reasonings for their formation. Although we do not think that men and women need to change their cultures to effectively communicate, we do think that better communication is possible. One of the researchers we took a look at was Deborah Tannen. According to Tannen the reason that men and women do not communicate well is that men and women use language differently. Women take the attitude that conversation is to explore solutions to common problems while men concern themselves more with getting information and hard data from conversation. Tannen states that what women look for in communication is human connection, while men consider status to be most important. They are looking for independence and are constantly looking for higher accomplishments. Intimacy threatens this independence, so men have a tendency to avoid it. One of the old sayings about women is that they talk more than men. It turns out that it is not necessarily true. Women seem to talk more in private conversations than do men. Women do not generally have a fear of intimacy and therefore are much more open with one another during private conversations. It is more difficult for women to use this type of communication style in the public arena. In that case it is men that do most of the talking. Tannen ultimately argues that men use communication as a weapon. They use long explanations to command attention from who it is they are speaking to. They use it to convey information and to ultimately gain agreement. Tannen suggests that through even simple conversation men are continually protecting their status. She sugg...
In order to have a good communication, men and women have to understand and trust one another. In a book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus John Gray shows the differences that men and women have. Also, Gray points out plenty of techniques and ideas that men and women can use to make their relationships much stronger and happier. I argue that John Gray's book is very helpful, informative, and insightful because his guidance helped me to understand my girlfriend's temperament and differences. Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus is a useful book to read and look into. The information which is provided in the book can definitely help men and women to develop special skills and knowledge which will help their relationships.
Men and women are more different than one can imagine. Though the main difference is in physical appearance, another difference is their sense of communication. Women appear to talk more than males, but like to keep their conversations more private. Males, on the other hand, will talk less, but do not mind their conversations being more public. This is just one of many examples of men and women being completely opposite of one another in terms of communication. Each gender has their own expectations of the opposite. These expectations are not usually met due to communication differences, which leads to criticisms such as, “Men do not listen” or “Women will never understand” to form. The most common assumption for why expectations are not met
Venus, the second planet closest to the Sun and Earth’s closest neighbor, is known for its many wonders and harsh conditions. Venus is possibly the first planet discovered by humans and is said to have been first discovered in 17 B.C. by Babylonian astronomers. Venus is the first planet to be explored by spacecraft although many of these attempts have proven unsuccessful. Fortunately, more than twenty of the spacecraft explorations been proven successful, and through those we have gained knowledge about this wonder of the night sky.
In Aphra Behn 's The Rover, the gender roles in society are particularly divisive. Gender roles were a major focus throughout the Restoration and especially in this play. The main conflict of the play is the attempt of Helena, Florinda ,and Angellica Bianca to avoid the fate their families have chosen for them. The play comes to the conclusion that there were only two “patriarchal definitions” of women: either that of a virgin or a whore. We see both of these in each of the major female characters and it seems important to note that there seemed to be no middle ground in terms of the way women were perceived. Women and femininity in the case of rape were not necessarily seen as the victims and more so as the provokers of their fates. The Rover
In conclusion, the the story of Cupid and Psyche is very powerful. It has many different feelings such as, love and jealous. Venus was jealous of Psyche but that got her nowhere because Psyche became her daughter in law. Love overcame Psyche's mistake of breaking Cupid’s promise. In the end they were married with a daughter.
