INTRODUCTION
In this essay I will be writing about Meloxicam which is a prescription only drug. I will dedicate a section for the contraindication and cautions, a section for metabolism and elimination and a section for the interactions of Meloxicam with other drugs. The formula for Meloxicam is C14H13N3O4S2. This drug is a long acting Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID). It is used in order to treat arthritis, by decreasing the stiffness, inflammation (swelling) and soreness of the sufferer’s joints.
CONTRAINDICATION AND CAUTIONS
There’s an indication of the possible danger of Meloxicam in varying situations. For instance, the third trimester of a pregnancy (week commencing 28 and until delivery date), anyone under the age of sixteen years old, those who suffer from bleeding disorders such as Gastrointestinal bleeding and severe heart failure, as well as other conditions. When being treated with Meloxicam no other NSAID medications should be taken at the same time as this intensify toxicity levels, also the patient should not consume more than the maximum daily dose.
As mentioned above Meloxicam has gastrointestinal effects, for instance, bleeding (whether it is perforation or ulceration, it could be lethal. There could be symptoms as warnings or none at all, even if there is or isn't Gastrointestinal problems before.) There higher a risk of bleeding the higher the doses the patient takes if the patient has Ulcer history and in specific if the patient suffers from haemorrhage perforation also senior citizens. Those who fall under this category should start on the lowest dose accessible and combination therapy is preferred.
Meloxicam can affect Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular. Patients who suffered from Hypertensio...

This paper discusses pharmacology and terminology related to “Pharmacology” which is the branch of medicine concerned with the uses, effects, and modes of action of drugs“ pharmacology. 2015. In Merriam-Webster.com. The study of different classes of drugs, routes of absorption, and drugs have effects on those consuming them. There are drugs that are necessary for illnesses and healing but, there are medicines that cause concern regarding interaction and harming the body.
Some people may develop a rash or more severe reaction, while others may have no adverse reaction at all. In the first scenario the physician should have investigated prior reactions and allergies before prescribing the mediation. He failed to question any allergies before writing the prescription. Additional steps could have been asking a simple question and offering an alternative medication due to the allergy. In the second scenario testing could have been done in order to see if there was any reactions to the medication before prescribing it in a prescription. If there were no alternative medication available and it was essential, a desensitization procedure to the mediation may be recommended. It involves gradually intruding the medication in small does until the therapeutic dose is achieved. Documenting these types of problems is critical to the safety of patients and clinical practice. Health professionals need to document these findings to help inform other medical health professionals of the potential serious adverse events of the
Some of these side effects can include dry mouth, insomnia, fatigue, increased appetite, constipation and agitation. Relapse is also very common after discontinuing use of antidepressants causes the brain to push back even more against the neurotransmitters in the brain. It is also said that antidepressants were found to kill neurons which in turn can lead to cognitive decline and developmental problems. Another big label of “danger” on antidepressants is the “Black Box” warning. This is a warning that comes on many antidepressants that warn about the potential increase of suicidal thinking and behavior. This is the most serious type of warning when it comes to prescription drugs. There are many other negative effects from antidepressants but these can all be avoided with proper use of the medicine. When patients feel as though they have to depend on these medications, it can lead to an overdose which can be extremely dangerous. Side effects of OD can be delirium, rapid pulse, cardiac arrhythmias, coma, and even death. However, I am on antidepressants myself, and have been for the last year. I have never experience any of these life altering side effects, just the same side effects that could come from taking your everyday over the counter Tylenol. Just like the Black Box warning from earlier states, it is all prescription drugs, not just
The most common sides effects associated with Metformin are gastrointestinal complaints; some of which are severe enough to cause patients to discontinue the medication. These include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and indigestion (Wilbur, 2013). Patients should see a decline in these side effects with continued use. Taking Metformin with food helps with these GI side effect...

The medication given to the children is a trial and error situation. The right drug could take years to find. The children taking this drug feel like test subjects when their pediatrician/psychotherapists must monitor them for compliance to the medication. Side effects differ from each individual, ranging from nervous breakdowns, inadequacy, mania, delusions, physical harm, self harm and possible attempted suicide. These symptoms can be treated with even more medication. Other side effects include: headache, stomach ache, dry mouth, constipation, gas, weight loss/gain, and acne. These symptoms might go away or are tolerable. New symptoms are hard to determine whether or not they are due from a new illness, the drugs, or just natural hormone development.

Adverse drug events or medication errors that result from polypharmacy can often be difficult to predict and prevent. According to an article posted in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy (2012), drug –drug interactions may lead to increased toxicity levels when taken together. An example is the interactio...

This service is experienced, documented, evaluated and paid for as Pharmaceutical Care. Pharmaceutical Care consists of a philosophy of practice, patient care process as well as a patient management system. Pharmaceutical Care has common integrated vocabulary consistent with other patient care practices such as medicine, dentistry and nursing. Philosophy of pharmaceutical care consists of a description of the social need for the practice, a concise and clear statement of individual practitioner responsibilities to meet this social need, the expectation to be patient-centered and the requirement to function within the caring paradigm. This philosophy of practice is expected and practiced by all health care professionals. The patient care processes must be consistent with the patient care processes of all other health care providers. These processes include the assessment of the client’s pharmaceutical needs, a health care plan that is constructed to meet the specific needs of the client and a process in which evaluates the health care plan to gauge the efficacy of decisions made and actions taken. Pharmaceutical care management system includes all resources needed to manage the client’s needs, which include the space provided, such as a clinic or hospital, an appointment system for patients, appropriate and ethical documentation, reporting of patient care, evaluation of decisions made and actions taken and payment of service
Polypharmacy is the “concurrent use of several differ drugs and becomes an issue in older adults when the high number of drugs in a medication regimen includes overlapping drugs for the same therapeutic effect”(Woo & Wynne, 2011, p. 1426). The patient is currently taking several medications that can potential interact with each other, perform the same therapeutic effect, and creating side effects. The following is a list of her medications and their indications:
