There are many people in the United States that use Medical Marijuana whether it is legal in the state they live in or not. There are thousands of people that cannot use medical marijuana due to it being illegal. Many people are using prescription pills and do not know the dangers of the medicine they are taking. Marijuana is not thought of as a helpful drug due to the fact that people think it is dangerous, however it can help ease the pain of many illnesses such as cancer. There has never been a report of someone overdosing on Marijuana, but many people die every year from overdosing on prescription drugs like Hydrocodone, Percocet, Xanax, and other pain relievers. Medical Marijuana has been a highly debated subject for many years. Some say it’s very bad for the Immune system and the Central Nervous system. Marijuana has been used to help the pain of thousands of people from several diseases like Glaucoma, Multiple All around the United States there are government funded studies one these cannabinoids of it slowing down the growth of tumors and killing cancer cells (Rappold). These ingredients can help protect the brain from damage. (Noonan) There is even research about Marijuana being a possible fuel source. Over half of the United States, not including Washington D.C., has Marijuana outlawed. In those states, Marijuana is a “schedule 1 drug” which means it still cannot be prescribed in a state that has not legalized it (Mathre 3). Marijuana has several different names for it around the world. In Jamaica, it is called “Ganja”, in South Africa it is called “Dagga”, and in Morocco it is called “Kif” (Mathre). All of these countries use it for medical reasons and recreational. When first discovered, marijuana was used for healing purposes. Only twenty-three states in America have legalized marijuana for medical use and some of the remaining twenty-seven states are pushing for legalization.
