There are many people in the United States that use Medical Marijuana whether it is legal in the state they live in or not. There are thousands of people that cannot use medical marijuana due to it being illegal. Many people are using prescription pills and do not know the dangers of the medicine they are taking. Marijuana is not thought of as a helpful drug due to the fact that people think it is dangerous, however it can help ease the pain of many illnesses such as cancer. There has never been a report of someone overdosing on Marijuana, but many people die every year from overdosing on prescription drugs like Hydrocodone, Percocet, Xanax, and other pain relievers.
Medical Marijuana has been a highly debated subject for many years. Some say it’s very bad for the Immune system and the Central Nervous system. Marijuana has been used to help the pain of thousands of people from several diseases like Glaucoma, Multiple Sclerosis, AIDS, and Cancer (Mathre 1). The leaves and flowers of Cannabis has been used as a pain reliever for hundreds of years. Now there are twenty-three states that have legalized it for medical purposes in the United States including Washington D.C.
Victims of HIV and AIDS can be given Medical Marijuana to increase their appetite when they have trouble eating because of the disease and the treatment they are receiving. One
of the most common uses for Sativa is for Cancer patients going through chemotherapy. Chemotherapy causes severe nausea as well as vomiting. (Zimmermann)
Robert Randall was diagnosed with Glaucoma and was one of the first patients to use Medical Marijuana (Mathre 4). In Colorado, over one hundred-fifty people with Epilepsy were helped by Cannabis (David Noonan). Another case in Colorado was...

Marijuana in the eyes of society is seen as a harmful drug and is therefore considered illegal. However, because of its natural healing properties Medical Marijuana is now publicly accepted. Many people use the drug to help aid them during times of pain and/or treatment. Because of all the benefits the government should allow the legalization of Marijuana in all 50 states. Sooner or later the government will have to due to the fact that more and more results everyday show that Marijuana does in fact do more good than evil especially when it comes to medical purposes.
