Medical Marijuana brings attention to people globally. In some cases marijuana can be good and in other cases it can cause harm to the human body. According to Drugabuse.gov the term medical marijuana refers to using the whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its basic extracts to treat a disease or symptom. Since the medical marijuana plant has chemicals that may help treat symptoms and illnesses, many people believe that this drug should be legal. As of today twenty three-states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana. Everyday the law is changing constantly. I believe that legalizing marijuana in all of the fifty states could possibly happen overtime. In 2014, residents of Oregon, Alaska, and Washington D.C voted to legalize marijuana. This question brings a lot of arguments because alcohol causes people to become aggressive and have a violent behavior, while marijuana calms people down making them feel relaxed. Many people die from alcohol use. The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 37,000 annual U.S deaths are from alcohol use alone. Marijuana is one of the least toxic drug. Many believe that marijuana kills brain cells while others believe it does not. All fifty states should legalize weed and see the changes it brings. If weed is legal in other states why is it not legalized in New York City? I think that if weed were to be legalized in New York City it would be easier for the NYPD. They wouldn’t have to worry about arresting people because of weed. They would be able to worry about something bigger than someone smoking pot. Many people smoke marijuana on a daily basis and it would be easier for them for them if it was legal.
