Recommended: Aspects of effective communication

Throughout one’s daily life, communication is present in the interaction between their environment and between other people. It is the act of imparting or exchanging information and conveying ideas and feelings (Oxford Dictionary). To carry out communication one needs language, which is a method of communication, either spoken or written, consisting of using words in a structured and conventional way (Oxford Dictionary). People, as they interact with others and with their environment, are considered communicators because they impart information, ideas, or feelings with the use of language. However in order to communicate effectively, one must explore the parameters of language and learning. These parameters unlock the meaning of a language learner who is a person who communicates effectively by the use of a standard language and learning how to use that language. A notable example of a language learner is an ESL learner or one who studies English as a Second Language. To understand this meaning of a language learner one must define what is language, what is learning, and what is a language learner.
The basis of communication is language. Language as defined above is a method of communication, either spoken or written, consisting of using words in a structured and conventional way (Oxford Dictionary). Language comes from the Old French word langage, meaning, “words, what is said, conversation, talk.” Often times language creates barriers because of the various types that are used around the world. Languages enable us to interact with other people (Beach, Purpose of). Learning any language will help people understand how the human brain organizes and processes information.

...g language. However, to be an effective communicator one must explore the parameters of language and learner. Exploring these parameters unlocks the meaning of a language learner, a person who learns a language through study, experience, or teaching in order to communicate effectively with others and with his or her environment. A significant language learner is an ESL learner who goes through a process of acquiring a second language by applying different learning methods to learn the English language. However the explanation of a language learner does not end with an ESL learner, ESL learning goes beyond the student and teacher, and an effective communicator is not just one who explores the parameters of language and learning. These points go more in depth and if one would like to know more one must do so through academic research and inquiry, online or in person.
