The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) is a state-funded agency that functions as the state’s investment arm in life sciences. The organization supports life sciences innovation, research, development and commercialization through a comprehensive set of incentives and funding programs.
The MLSC’s business goal is to attract and retain life sciences companies in Massachusetts and establish the state as a hub for Life Sciences and Biotechnology companies. These goals, when attained, not only benefit the state with incremental business tax dollars, but propel growth in the state by creating jobs, driving economic development and accelerating the commercialization of promising treatments and cure to diseases.
The MLSC relies heavily on two communication channels: the website and the weekly newsletter. The website details the organization’s funding programs, the upcoming events in the life sciences industry, the reasons why Massachusetts is the right ecosystem for companies in this field, press announcements and media coverage. The newsletter highlights the upcoming events and promotes job openings in life sciences companies around the state.
Besides these two channels, the organization also is also present on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, in which Twitter is the most used platform. It is where the organization shares pictures of companies’ ribbon cuttings, reminders and deadlines for registration of events, media coverage and partnerships with other companies. While the MLSC maintain a Facebook page and a LinkedIn profile, they are not updated as frequently as the other tools.
