Various aspects of human motivation have always attracted the attention of scientists. It’s no wonder that the study of different factors of motivational processes is considered an extremely important issue, because it gives us a key to understanding the causes and consequences of human behavior. Various theories of human motivation were proposed throughout the 20th century. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory is one of the most profound theories in this field.
1.1 The essence of Theory of the Hierarchy of Needs
Abraham Maslow presented his ideas in the work “Theory of Human Motivation” published in 1943. According to Maslow’s concept of Hierarchy of Needs, unsatisfied needs are the main source and the driving force of motivation. Personal growth is achievable only through fulfillment of these needs. They are satisfied in a hierarchical way, from a lower to a higher level. Once certain needs have been satisfied, they stop acting as a motivator of behavior; and a person seeks to fulfill the next more complex ones. Thus, until the needs of the previous level are not met, we cannot move to the next one...
