Frederick Herzberg’s book on “motivational theory” and its impact on management
in the society is a framework for e-learning practice. As discovered, as a management
theorist he created success and delivered to his people, he changed people’s conception in
motivation in work place precisely in the mid 1960’s.
Frederick Herzberg carried out his research through an interview from engineers
and accountants with focus on positive and negative work experience encountered in work
place. He discovered that satisfaction and dissatisfaction which on the whole, leads
positive contribution to work place and also fosters productivity with low level of
commitment to work place. In regards to this fact satisfaction and dissatisfaction despite
the original position of things at work place influences productivity, i.e. irrespective of the
level of commitment to work place.
He was born in the year 1923 precisely on the 18th of April in Massachusetts. “A
professor of management, he had his undergraduate work at the city collage of New York
and his graduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He however died in the year 2000

Worthy to note in his discovery of the satisfaction and dissatisfaction in which the
later is discouraged to the extent of making people realize and recognize the task ahead of
them and achieve fruitful results. Its identification of real motivation i.e. achievement,
advancement and development which cultivates maintenance culture and factors in work
place identified as policy, relations senior workers, work conditions. The relationship with
subordinates is equally of great importance, not forgetting responsibility as one of them
and finally encroachment and innovation also worthy to mention.
