A management information system (MIS) is an information collection and analysis system that facilitates access to program and participant information."(mays.tamu.edu, 2013) This system is usually computerized. Businesses use MIS at all levels of operation to collect, process and store data. Management uses this data in the form of information needed to carry out the daily operations of the business. Everyone who works in business, from someone who pays the bills to the person who makes employment decisions, uses MIS. In fact, many (if not most) companies concentrate on the alignment of MIS with business goals to achieve competitive advantage over other companies. "The major components of the MIS are the database, the model base, and the user interface. The database is used to store important data, the model base has the required statistical models in order to analyze the large amounts of data, and the user interface allows the user of the software to navigate through it and use it with ease."(mays.tamu.edu, 2013)

In the healthcare system, interoperability is the ability of different information technology systems and software applications to communicate, exchange data, and use the information that has been exchanged (NAHIT,2005). Exchange of health data is an essential factor for the healthcare industry. Health data exchange can increase the quality of care of the patient by providing relevant health related information for better patient management, knowledge management, and performance monitoring.

MIS is the instrumentation of an organisation. Their interfaces to the human controllers serve as dials and gauges that allow these controllers to read off the current state of their organisation. They may record and model all or part of the organisations activities and provide indicators of any actual or predicted change in state. Of most value, they record or predict the rate, direction and timing of such changes. When a business event occurs, the event provides the raw material for the MIS. The event may be recorded, appropriately stored, transmitted,

I am currently employed as a Software Engineering Senior Analyst at Accenture. The Information system advances so rapidly that at times it is too difficult to keep up with it without proper knowledge and experience. While most of the people do get a relatively easy entry in the field after under graduation, it is very difficult to aim for a constant growth only on that basis. The field demands upgraded knowledge and experience for career growth and (achieve goals). And that is why I aspire, to pursue Masters in Management Information Systems at your esteemed University.
A computer information system manager has a bachelor’s degree in a computer field such as management information system or computer science. Many of the employers would like to hire someone with higher educational experience like a master degree is recommended by some employers.
The use of computers and information systems in healthcare industry is quite a good move in the right direction. Vast amounts of information are stored, data is sorted according to categories and can easily be retrieved, and patients are diagnosed effectively and accurately. Uniform codes and standards are created which makes the system universally acceptable. Most hospitals and healthcare facilities are focused on treating their clients and saving their lives and in the process forget about adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act which mandates protection of electronic health information since its implementation in 1996.
Bachelor of Science Information System Management (Hons). This programme recognises information as a strategic resource. My interest in Information Systems Management was drawn when I was working on my final year project at Maharashtra Institute of Technology under the able guidance of the head of the Computer Engineering department. Professor R. K. Bedi’s support provided a much needed boost to my confidence in my programming skills. This new found confidence, in conjunction with the organization management skills I had acquired through active participation in extracurricular activities like “Tesla”, in inter college programming fest, made me realize I wanted to pursue a program that had comprised a blend of both the computer science and management disciplines.
