The book “The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” as a book about different short stories about psychological disorders. One of the most eye catching things about this book I think is the title of the book, it’s very eye catching. Anyway back to the book, the book focuses on short stories about strange clinical stories about psychological disorders. The stories are not linear to each other, they are just little stories. Like Tourrettes, a women who hears music wherever she is, and a man who mistook his wife for a hat. In the rest of the paper I will go into deeper about certain parts of the book that took my interest. First of all how can I skip the the story that was also the title of the book. A high school music teacher started showing strange behavior. Like not being able to identify students, personal friends, and even his own wife. She would always crack jokes, but she was also reported not caring about anything anymore. When the author was asking her questions, she would answer with “yes, father”, “yes, sister”, and “yes, doctor”. This caused some confusion so the author asked her what he was to her. She said his beard reminded him of a priest, his white outfit a nurse, and his stethoscope reminded her of a doctor. She could see all three things, but could not see all of him, nor did she care. She knew he was an individual, but could not see it. Like for example she knew there was a difference between left and right, but could not tell there was a difference nor did she care. It all meant the same to her. Throughout the whole questioning she would crack jokes and laugh which was a little strange. She had a dead pan humor to her.
