Topic: Air Polution
Title: Major outcomes of air pollution
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: After listening to my speech, the audience will know the 3 major effects of air pollution.
Thesis: Getting to know the effects of air pollution will provide you high concern towards our flourishing environment.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter: Have you ever wondered why weather changes from time to time. Why some cities in China, Iran, and Qatar have a lot of people suffering from asthma, ear infection and many other health symptoms. Also why these types of cities have difficulty growing crops.
II. Thesis: Getting to know the effects of air pollution will provide you high concern towards our flourishing environment.
III. Preview of Main Points:
I. Global warming.
II. Acid rain.
III. Negative health effects.
Body
I. Global Warming.
A. What is global warming and what kind of effects it could have?
1. It is an overall temperature that changes dramatically over small amount of time.
2. Temperature during the summer can increase at a phenomenal rate.
3. Winters may become warmer.
4. Make the arctic ice melt which will increase sea level.
B. What causes it?
1. A lot of carbon dioxide which produce unstable greenhouse effect. Greenhouse effect works as sort of blanket against infrared rays.
2. Most of the carbon dioxide comes from plants that burn fossil fuels. It also can come from burning trees.
C. What can be done to overcome it?
1. By using less electricity can reduce the gases.
2. Drive your car less and ride a bike more.
3. Burning fewer things that have carbon dioxide.
4. Plant a tree, because trees absorb carbon dioxide and give clean oxygen.
II. Acid Rain
A. What is acid rain and what causes it.
1. Acid rain is an acid droplet which contains mix of different gases such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
2. Power plants release the majority of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides by burning fossil fuels such as coal, to produce energy.
3. Acid rain can also be referred to acid deposition, which comes in two forms.
a. A wet deposition usually happens when participation removes acid from the atmosphere and deposits it on the earth’s surface.
Vehicles are the main source of air pollution. The following pollutants together are associated with emission are: Carbon monoxide co), Nitrogen Dioxide no2), Sulfur dioxide so2) and particulate matter (PM). Separately, any of these pollutants are understood or assumed to cause adverse health effects. Increases in air pollution are associated with increases in heart attacks, deteriorating respiratory function and increased premature births rates. Information on air quality In the era of serious concerns about the quality of health outcome, more fo...
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
Pollution occurs in many different forms such as, air, water, soil, radioactive, noise, heat/thermal and light. People from all around the world experience different levels and effects of air pollution. Millions of Americans live in areas where urban smog, particle pollution, and toxic pollutants are serious health concerns. If exposed to high enough levels of certain air pollutants one can experience irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and breathing difficulties are other fatal effects caused from air pollution. Air pollution is a problem for everyone and can only be fixed if everyone were to work together to help prevent it as much as
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
Air pollution is among the critical challenges facing modern societies and is one of the most pressing environing mental problems. Air pollution is accountable for major harmful effects on human strength, animal survives, natural ecosystems and the man-made environment. It is also responsible for climate change due to the improved greenhouse effect, acid rain, and the reduction of the ozone layer that inaugurate important global environmental problems. Air pollution occurs both outdoors and indoors and is caused by human activities and natural mechanisms. Although air quality degradation because of air pollution is a global problem that threatens humanity’s wellbeing overall, it is largely associated with environmental bias. (Anastasia Dimitriou and Vasilia Christidou, 2011)
Today, our environment faces air pollution; however, some of us are still not aware of it. It is a serious matter because it is all around us, and it causes harm to every single one of us; it might not be as evident in certain areas as others, but it is still present and affecting us in numerous ways. Air pollution, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is the contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere (as cited in WHO, n.d.). In other words, air pollution is contaminated or dirty air. Furthermore, in the new estimates available, the WHO reports that 1 in
To narrate the main problem of air pollution in Beijing by describing the harmful effects it has on the population of the city.
Relevance: Air pollution is something that everyone should be concern, especially if we’re advancing a lot in technology, especially in vehicles and the importance of our air or the environment.
I hope this essay points out the view why air pollution is bad for our health. It causes so many respiratory problems and not only that the dangerous toxicity of the gasses that we’re exposed to everyday is killing us. Studies have shown the connection between pollutants such as ozone and sulfate have increased the number of asthma attacks. Some have said that pollution is good and when we need it sustain life on Earth. Studies also show a connection between short-term exposure and increased visits to emergency departments and hospital admissions for respiratory illnesses, particularly in at-risk populations including children, the elderly, and increasing the number of asthma attacks. The probability of having an asthma attack varies on how much due to exposure of air pollution.
Air pollution has become very costly environmental problem in terms of both human lives and in terms of billions of dollars lost for health-care expenditure and crop damage.
As Dr. Sunyer Said in his article: "It is believed that much like cystic fibrosis, by living in a more urban environment serious health hazards become more apparent. Studies have shown that in urban areas patients suffer mucus hyper secretion, lower levels of lung function, and more self-diagnosis of chronic bronchitis and emphysema".( Sunyer, 2001).That's mean air pollution is harmful impact on human health and cases many diseases like: Cardiovascular disease, Lung disease and Cancer Which increases the mortality rate. So, Millions have died because of the direct or indirect effects of air pollution. Thant children in areas prone to air pollutants typically suffer from pneumonia and asthma. In addition, air pollution is effect the Atmosphere that main it is one of the indirect effects of global warming with high temperatures all over the world and increase the melting of ice and increase the rate of sea level there will be a disaster is imminent , if not take the necessary actions.
Air pollution is a type of pollution that can severely damage our environment as well as the earth’s atmosphere. Air pollution occurs all the time when the air contains many substances ...
PURPOSE (state specific purpose, relate topic to audience and establish credibility): The cars we drive every day release toxic exhaust gases into the atmosphere that damage it. We should try to do better to reverse these effects now; otherwise, our world will continue to get filthier and eventually become uninhabitable.
I am doing this paper on air pollution because it 's a serious problem in our lives that we must take action on and start to handle as the serious problem that it is. Air Pollution Is the contamination of the air we breathe everyday. There is two different kinds of air pollution which are the visible pollution and invisible pollution, which both contribute to global warming. The most familiar and visible kind of air pollution is smog, which hangs over cities. The pollution in our air is destroying our planet day by day. Carbon Dioxide which is the smoke that comes from cars, planes, factories, and power plants, is what is polluting our air and causing our planet to warm up. There is other types of greenhouse gasses like methane and sulfur that
Every other day a new industries are being set up, new vehicles on roads and trees are being cut to make way for new homes. All of them, indirect way lead to increase in CO2 leads to melting of polar ice caps which increase the sea level and pose danger for the people living near coastal areas. Pollution can have an impact in our health not only affects people with impaired respiratory system such as asthmatics, but very healthy adults and children too. Exposure to pollution for 6 to 7 hours, even at relatively low concentrations, reduces lung function and induces respiratory inflammation and, healthy people during periods of moderate
