Lupus : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Lupus is a disease in a person body that mistake some of the body’s own tissues for invaders trying to harm the body host, so the body take it cautionary and attacks the tissues. It is considered an autoimmune disease. There are different types of Lupus; the most common one is Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) which is most common and serious type. Other types such as Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus aka Discoid Lupus is limited to skin and doesn’t cause the organ damage that happens with SLE. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus while being a visual disease it also has some internal problems. Some internal problems could be such as heart, kidneys, and other vital organs can be damage. Lupus most common symptom is joint pain, butterfly rash, light sensitivity, hair loss, nail changes, Raynaud’s, and fever and fatigue. First common signs of Lupus are joints and muscle pain. It tend to happen to both side of the body in their fingers, hand, wrists, and knees, also they may look inflamed and feel warm when touched. One common recognizable symptom in lupus patients is butterfly-shaped rash across the both cheeks and bridge of the nose. There are other skin problems such as sensitivity to the sun with flaky red spot, or scaly purple rash on different parts of the body including the face, neck, and arms. Many of the lupus patients are unusually sensitive to the sun and other form of ultraviolet light. Another symptom that happens in lupus but come and goes with rest of symptom is hair loss, which means their hair fall out in patches or the hair become thinner across the head. The person’s nails can start to crack or fall off, change in color to blue or reddish spot at the base, which is in the nail bed, in result of inflamed small blood vessels...

It gives a guide and information about lupus from facts to symptoms to diagnosis and test to treatments and care to living to supports and resources. It covers all aspect of what lupus is and what to expect. Another website I liked to use was http://www.lupusresearchinstitute.org/lupus-facts/lupus-diagnosis because it doesn’t speak in medical terms entirely and make it easier to understand what lupus is and what it does to a person’s body. In this site they talk about how no two cases are alike, what are lupus symptoms, what are the treatments, and fact sheets about lupus.
