Love and hate are not opposites because they substitute each other depending on the emotions that people develop. Love and hate is a cycle of emotions that humans experience, they either develop feelings of love from hate or hateful feelings from love. Plath keeps going bac...

...hat develop into hate. Every person has experienced the expression of, “I hate you, but I love you” it’s often used with lovers and parent-child relationships. The expression just means that the hatred you feel is just the base of your love to a person. Love and hate will always be in the same cycle to substitute each other, whether love or hate comes first it will lead to the other.
