For my third book report I read the book Lord of the flies. This book takes place at the beginning of the last world war. A plane is transporting a group of young schoolboys away from Britain and the plane is shot down. The plane crash lands on a deserted island. Two boys come out of the plane and they believe that there are more kids on the island. One boy’s name was Ralph while the other boy was chubby and at school they called him piggy so his nickname stuck with him. He has asthma and he has been wearing glasses or “specs” as the book describes them. They both find a conch on the beach. Piggy teaches Ralph how to blow the conch to try and get attention or to try to find any other kids. When Ralph blows the conch more kids run to the beach. There are many young children and then there are twins, Sam and Eric. Then a group of boys come who are a choir. The leader’s name was Merridew, but he is also referred to by Jack. Ralph and Merridew got in an argument of who should be in charge of the pact of kids. Everyone takes a vote and Ralph wins leadership. Ralph appoints Merridew to be in charge of all food and hunting along with the choir.
Rising Action
Ralph, Merridew, and Simon, who is also, part of the choir, decide to see if they are really on an uninhabited island of if they are surrounded by villages. They then start their journey up the mountain and tell the others to stay put. When they reach the mountain they see and believe that they are truly on a deserted island. On their way down they spot a pig and merridew failed to kill it so it ran away. Everyone including merridew is upset. When they come down they discuss what they saw and the whole pact concludes that they have to build a fire on the mountain to...

Ralph tried to go to merridew to talk some sense into him but one of his choir members let a big rock fall off the rock where his tribe was located and it killed Piggy and destroyed the conch. Ralph then runs away to try and save himself. Sam and Eric are forced to join Merridew’s tribe and keep watch for Ralph. Ralph is forced to hide until the forest is set on fire with the help of Piggy’s “specs” otherwise known as glasses. So Ralph tries to run away and to save himself which he does then he falls down onto the ground. When he looks up again he sees the face of a naval officer who saw the forest burning and came to rescue them. He announces he will take everyone back to Britain and he turns around, giving the boys a few minutes to cry and think about what had happened to them. Ralph then recognizes piggy and Simon as true heroes.

That’s why he mentions that the beast could be inside all of them once, and immediately discards that because Ralph doesn’t think so.
