Living a healthy life style is the best way to leading a happier life. Dieting and working out promote good physical and mental health. Suffering from minor depression at one point, leading a healthier lifestyle was a coping mechanism for me. Seeing changes in my physical appearance enhanced my confidence. Making the decision of starting a new life style taught me discipline and good habits. Every bad, sad or frustrated emotion I felt was let out in the gym. This became an escape, a distraction from everything I was dealing with at that time, it became my happy place.
To begin, health and fitness are great ways to improving not only physical but mental health. Eating healthier and working out have been said to treat depression such as mild and moderate cases, as effectively as antidepressant medication. Exercising is a great stress reliever which is a great benefit to improving mental health. This can also improve and increase your concentration. In 2012, Population Health Management published a study that showed a 66% increase in decreased productivity loss, when eating an unhealthy diet. Having a healthier diet also decreases your risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
In addition, exercising regularly improves your immune system; it is one of the pillars to living a healthy life. Keeping control of your body weight and improving your cardiovascular health are two of the many benefits in leading a healthier life style. Consistently training improves circulation, which assists the substances in the immune system to circulate through your body and work effectively. In conclusion being consistent with your training leads to building good habits and self-esteem. When you exercise frequently and know you are closer to your goal, you gain a feeling of achievement. Physical activity also changes your appearance, feeling attractive pumps up your self-esteem. Let’s be honest who doesn’t like feeling confident with how they look. Feeling confident; assists in preventing any physical, mental or emotional issues. Knowing all of the benefits and issues that can be prevented through health and fitness help get you on the path to a happier and healthier life.
