Classroom management is an important component of successful teaching. It is that teachers create and maintain appropriate behavior of students in classroom settings. (1…) Kessler (2012) mentions that “[s]tudies suggest that up to 51% of children may have a diagnosable mental health disorder, many of which involve severe impairment at home or school” (Kessler et al., 2012). Classroom management is defined as “ [c]lassroom management is the term educators use to describe methods of preventing misbehavior and dealing with it if it arises. In other words, it is the techniques teachers use to maintain control in the classroom” (About Education, 2016).
Moreover, classroom management is that teachers have different skills and strategies that they can use to keep students organized, orderly, attentive, on task, and academically focused, during a class (Hidden curriculum, 2014). As Wong and Wong (2012), highlights that classroom management includes organizing space, students, time, and materials through the teaching and implementation of effective procedures and routines so that learning can occur.
However, the most difficult challenge that teachers face is that disruptive behaviors in the learning environment. Classroom management has the largest effect on student achievement, so students cannot learn in poorly managed classroom. Additionally, research has pointed out that the quality of teacher-student relationships is the main aspect of classroom management.(…2). Barbetta, Norona, and Bicard (2005) state that teachers are challenged daily to maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning. In this section, group discussion will be conducted to help teacher identifying and sharing their thoughts and beliefs about the importance of classroom management and how they can reduce misbehavior in their classrooms.
After that the classroom management strategies will be presented; we are going to emphasis in the idea that When rules are clear, are reasonable, and can be enforced, teachers can maintain a positive classroom atmosphere and focus on learning.
Teachers should observe in end of the workshop that if they follow classroom management strategies, they can have an orderly classroom environment and they will improve students
