The Light of Literature “Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light”( Nazarian 451). Literature gives individuals a chance to escape the current world for a moment, and become captivated in the words you are reading. Without Literature, our world would have no spark. There would be imagination, no passion, and no love. Reading gives someone the chance to take a break and relax while your brain is being fed an immense amount of wonderful knowledge. As you are turning each page you are constantly learning new words and letting your brain take off with imagination. Dana Gioia states that, “Reading requires sustained and focused attention as well as active use of memory and imagination”. You don’t realize it, but while someone is reading a good book their brain is enjoying them. Even if you are reading something that doesn’t seem so enjoyable, keep reading. I am sure with in that very moment, you will find joy between those lines. Let your brain get lost with beautiful thoughts of your own, while reading someone else’s …show more content…

I understand that, Reading may not be for everyone. But what I wish from them, is hope that they have social skills. For example Meghan Trainer stated in an interview that “[she does not] read books. No matter what time of day, if I am reading a book, I am going to fall asleep. I wish I read books because they help with talking” (Edwards). Meghan trainer gives us no evidence of why she doesn’t like reading, just the fact that she falls asleep. She has not given reading a chance and unfortunately lost some serious fame from the lack of knowledge she has while she was being interviewed. Literature is important, it gives us so many characteristics that are so important to an individual. I am sure that if an individual does not enjoy reading, they have not given it a real
